Ladies, I really want to keep my commitment to myself of stretching my relaxer, but my new growth has curled up into those pin spring curls and i CANNOT get through them, even under the running water it's hard to comb it because it's so thick...does anyone have any special techniques other than taking an hour or more to detangle or not combing the new growth????

I keep mine moisturized 24/7 because it does the same thing that you're describing. Pre-poo treatments also help soften the new growth and make it easier to detangle.

Moisturization is the key. Maybe you could wash in braids to lessen the risk of detangling between the whole head. Do you have the Jilbere shower comb? Girl, that's like a wonder comb!

yep i have a jilbere...but it never fails that once i get to working my products through, my hair becomes a tangled mess.

I agree with the other tips. Also try a detangler. Coconut oil mixed with water can help with this too.

I also agree with the other tips, you need a good detangler and conditioner. My Mom had a really hard time with this very issue. Also, try styles that don't require you to style your hair everyday. i.e. buns, braids.
