DCs: When do you see the TRUE benefit?

How long did it take to see DC results?

Hi All--

I slowly but surely am getting back into having a durable and effective regimen for my newly relaxed hair.

My main objective is having moisturized and thicker hair--length is secondary (for right now *winks*).

I saw an LHCF-endorsed hair expert say on her YouTube tutorial that it takes at least a MONTH to get one's hair in proper condition after starting regular DCs. That goes for natural ladies, too!

I wanted to ask y'all if it's true--whether it's Humecto, Silicon Mix, ORS, or your own concoctions!

Have you seen results in a month? Has it taken longer than a month?

Do you give up and switch to another regimen when you don't see results?

Let's share--products and all!

Probably right after the first dc you will feel a difference in your hair. But it does take a couple of weeks or so to get your hair on the right track. I think it depends on the person and the extent of the damage. Yeah, about a couple of week to a month or so. Some longer. And as for thickness, that came with length for myself. Just give it time, don't give up! I didn't. HTH!

I say that lesss than a month. the thing that my hair needed most was moisture. So after a few DC treatment ( protein and moisture). My hair was like a whole new head of hair, healthy, shiny, bouncy hair!!
Of course, it wasnt just the DCing it was also moisturizing my ends and scarfing my hair at night

I think it depends on your starting damage level.

I think the first things you will notice after regular d/cing is that your hair is softer, has more moisture, increased managablity.

I think you start to notice an improvement in over quality of your hair after 1-2 months of regular and proper conditioning.

My hair feels better after every DC, and I've been DC'ing for - years. If I use a DC, and my hair still feels the same that it did before the DC, there's a problem.

Over the last few years though, my hair has also overall began to feel MUCH better. The way my hair feels now on a 'bad hair day' is 100 times better than how it felt 2 years ago on my 'best hair day', if that makes sense.

I would say one month or so.My hair was very low on moisture so it took longer for me.I wasn't DC'ing with a quality conditioner and I surely wasn't doing it often enough because I didn't know how crucial it was.

I've been DC'ing 2/weekly since March when I did the DC challenge and my hair feels great.

I concur. :yep:

Since I've joined the dc challenge, it's like I have a whole new head of hair! Maybe two weeks after dc'ing 3 or more times a week, my hair did a complete 180.

I think every noob should start out deep conditioning twice a week. The results are fantastic!

I agree with Tiffers! I wish i know how to post pics in my post to show before and afters. My hair has gotten thicker haven't seem much length:wallbash: just fullness. Maybe my hair gets thicker before it gets longer....did this happen to anyone else? Anywho! This DCing twice a week is the truth! My hair love it:lick:.

i only deep condition once a week, usually without heat but i co wash daily so my hair is in amazing condition. my hair is getting thicker and i love it. also although i only deep condition once a week i usually pre poo/baggy overnight with ojon restoritive treatment three times a week:lick:. and almost every time i wash with shampoo(once a week) i use aphogee two minute reconstructor for one minute and if im goin to use heat i spray a moisturizing leave in as well as the aphogee keratin spray.
my hair is so moisturized and strong and the healthiest its ever been.

but i would say less than a month. co wash and deep condition atleast once a week and you hair will fell healthier.

The DC I did today showed noticeable improvement and I'm in love!

I mixed about a 1/4 cup of Coconut Milk, half a pack of ORS Replenishing Pak, big ol' squirt of Nexxus Humectress, splash of Free Me Freesia V05 Moisturizing Condish & a spill of Olive Oil -- I don't really do "measurements"! I applied it with my super cute purple applicator brush ... then poured the rest on and squished it in, tossed on my cap and sat under the dryer twice for five minute intervals, let it cool then rinsed with tepid water and I'm having some nice lush shine, defined curls and its quite soft. I think I'm in love. :heart2:

Ignore the sad face. Ha.

ITA! That's how it happened for me at least. I felt a difference after the first DC and a month or so later my hair had a turn around ...

I didn't keep track but I did get results...and I love them. I wish I could pst progress pics. I say the key is consistencey

What do you use to DC? I don't do it much because I've never felt a difference immediately after. I wonder if I have to do it several times to feel any difference.

I usually use a mix of stuff, but my favorite is Elasta QP Intense Fortifying Conditioner, mixed with a healthy dollop of honey. :lick: My hair loves it. Also, I always DC for at least 2 hours. That might make a difference. :yep:

Now THAT'S what's up! I'm gonna try that!

I'm DC-ing once a week; co-washing twice a week.

Do you use the same DC product during your twice-weekly treatments--or do you switch them?

I would say it took about 1 month for me to see a NOTICEABLE difference. I would agree with the others that indicate consistency is key. DCing has helped me retain length better than anything else I have tried.
