Ever since I discovered this site Ive been buying up the beauty supply store! Lawddd its so many products and testimonials on this site that you just wanna run out and try everything on your head and TRUST I dont even have it like that money wise.
Some of the stuff I bought has been so so dont see the hype or the regime didnt work for our hair..I tried the natural coconut "relaxer" and was pissed off...It didnt work and it left a bunch of white flecks in all of our hair. I was like money wasted ..down the drain.
THAN I came across blessed angel post in the children's thread about her child's moisture regime and I ran out bought all of those exspensive *** products and NOTHING...Sure it was a lil moist but nothing like her child's results . I just learned that everything dont work for everybody the hard way . My child's hair is so short thick dy and course its bananas and Im still trying to find products that work for her hair .

It takes awhile to find staples. Many of us are still at it. Many people don't tell you this part...
Some things I can suggest are to not necessarily run and buy out stuff after a rave review. Rather keep it in the back of your head and write it down and when you have time, look it up in older threads, look it up on google. There are so many black hair blogs these days doing product reviews. Once you have your eye on a product for a long time, it'll be an easier decision on whether to buy it or not.
On this board people tend to write rave reviews either on the first, second or their second trial of a product. This is just a generalization. If you ever search the board and find a rave review from a while ago, bump the thread to ask the OP how it's been going, or PM them if they are still a member. You may not get the Op to answer but people will start responding to the thread again and you can get some new feedback to help you decide.
Finally, familiarize yourself with ingredients. When you spend a lot of time on the board, searching etc, pay attention to the more scientific threads where members are discussing ingredients and types of products. This will help you from making mistakes in product choices.
Don't feel bad about the trial and error, just try to control it. You can always sell products or trade too.
One way i have learned to curb excessive spending on anything, is to sleep on it.
If i still want it 2-3 days later, then i will buy it.
Most of the time the impulse goes away.
Excellent advice!
