Isaiah 49:6-7 '
[The LORD says:] "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." This is what the LORD says-- the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel-- to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: "Kings will see you and rise up, princes will see and bow down, because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you." (NIV)
The plan God has for your life is so much bigger than you have ever imagined!
God wants his salvation to spread through the whole earth, he wants the name of his Son Jesus to bring life and hope to people of every race, creed and language. And he wants you to be his agent, carrying the power of that message to the world.
There will be times in your life when you will think you've finally worked out what God has called you to do. In those moments, you may well hear the voice of the Holy Spirit saying something like, 'Hey, that's way too small – think bigger. I didn't call you just for that … I called you for this…'
The Lord doesn't show us everything at the start, he unpacks the total vision as we go along. He makes sure that we've fulfilled one part of the call before he launches us on the next. In the process, he prepares us to carry much greater responsibility, to have a far greater impact than we had ever imagined at the beginning of our journey. You see, this brings great honour to his name.
When he takes the insignificant people of the world and elevates them to places of importance for him – not self-importance for themselves – he causes kings and rulers to bow to his superior wisdom and his grace. So, remember that God wants you not only to work in the sphere you're in right now. He is calling you to much more over time. He wants you, along with all those he's called, to bring his salvation 'to the ends of the earth.'
Prayer: 'Lord, thank you for constantly preparing me for bigger things. Please help me to take your gospel to the ends of the earth. Help me to stay faithful and to keep taking the new challenges along the way.'
