What is ORS RP if you don't mind me asking. I just switched to Nexxus Keraphix entirely. I've been using phyto for about a year and a half if I had to guess....

I mixed the reconstructor with ORS RP and it worked out very well. How long have you been using it?

Where did you purchase your phyto relaxer? I had a similar experience to yours and I am now wondering if purchasing the cheaper form of Phyto relaxer might be the culprit - I don't know. I have always purchased the relaxer - Index 11 from Hairboutique but for my last touch up, I got it off ebay - Index 1. After my relaxer, my hair was UNBELIEVABLY DRY!! I was totally shocked at how dry my hair was and I started to wonder if it's the Index 1 that caused such dryness. I had to re-wash my hair and moisturized it but as soon as my hair was dried in the curlers, it needed lots of moisture again. I had to wash my hair again the very next day - it was THAT bad! I didn't know what went wrong but after about 4-5 washes, my hair came back to its normal state. I haven't relaxed since then but when I do, I will use Index 11 from ebay to see if I experience the same thing. If excessive dryness occurs again then I will go back to hair boutique relaxer. If hair boutique's phyto relaxer makes my hair feel OK then I would have to conclude that something might be up with the cheaper relaxer on ebay.

I was watching a show the other day - I am not sure if it was Dateline or 20/20 where unscrupulous thiefs manufacture identical products (vitamins, medicines, viagra etc, etc.,) and sell them for much cheaper prices online and to drug stores. People were purchasing these products, not realizing that the products they were buying were fake and did absolutely nothing for them. One cancer woman died because even though she purchased, what she thought were the right cancer medicines, all she was taking were fake medications! It is amazing how the packaging of the products are SO real - the pharmaceutical company in the US could not tell the difference between their product and the fake one - it was only when the products were tested that they realized which one was the real thing. I am saying all of this because, one never knows! If a product was working well and you haven't done anything different in your routine yet all of a sudden it is not working the same way, the formula is either changed or something is wrong with it. This is just my 2 cent speculation and food for thought.

Your not the only one. I keep posting about this, but I'm just really surprised. B/c it was only after about 6 months on Phyto II that my hair started acting weird.

I just don't understand why it wasn't like this from the beginning? and I'm only now realizing it might be the Phyto and not something I'm doing. I MIGHT try it one more time though. Last time I put in olive oil and did not go all the way, but even that said, before THAT time I wasn't putting olive oil in it and still getting these same results (dry, underprocessed, frizzy).

How long do you guys wait before washing your hair? I'm wondering if it's reversion due to washing too soon? Like would 3 days be too soon?

It's the Organic Root Stimulator's Replenishing Pak.

1 1/2 years and no issues...that's good. I know Sherrylove has been using it since April 2004. All I know is if I'm still good come June 30th then it's all good.
Question: do you use the Keraphix before or after neutralizing?

I am so glad you liked it! I knew you would because you were looking for something that straightens but doesn't take the life out of your hair. You are definitely right about your hair feeling stronger when wet. I had the same experience after applying mine and thought I was crazy. Well, I am, but not in this instance at least. I'm sorry it took me so long to catch this post. I've been on and off of here and mostly lurking in the other areas. I'm sure your hair looks great as always. I can't wait to see your pics if you do decide to take some (pretty please!!!).

I am very happy that you tried it. I think everyone should try this relaxer to see if it will work for them. My hair has been thankfull ever since. And you are correct. I use so fewer products now. It is truly amazing! I have been able to air dry my hair for the first time in my life and have gone heat free now for 2 months ( which was previously unheard of for me)!!!

I mixed the milky recon with the ORS RP. The ORS was from the BSS. I mixed it because I heard horror stories about the milly recon but I still wanted to use it so I decided to mix it with a very light protein (ORS).

I washed last night and was also able to air dry then finger comb easier than ever before. I applied some Keracare silken seal and my beloved Giovanni direct and I was able to remove all shed hairs and it was nice.

I have given up the comb...my hair thanks me..lol.

How do you dry your hair since you are heat free? My hair cannot take heat at all so that is no longer an option...it will have to be rollersets or various forms of airdrying for me.

well, i finally jumped on the Phyto train!

I used to use no-lye relaxers with no avail. My hair would get straight but would be matted and dry as heck after washing, the amount of hair I'd lose was insane. So then I switched to lye. My hair felt healthier after relaxing, but getting it as staight as I wanted was still difficult.

Now, that Phyto! Whoo, my hair is bone straight. I had to because I had about an inch to two inches that just wasn't getting relaxed very well by the lye. Heck I discovered how long my hair actually is! The relaxer took forever and a day to fully rinse out but it feels nice and soft and the milky reconstructer didn't give me any tangles. The $60 may be worth skipping a few meals for!

I got it at PollyandCo. I emailed the company and they said they will start to sell it in Canada by year end or early next year.

I managed to get the great length while natural. It's only the last 2 year that I have been relaxed.

I mixed the ORS and milky recon as my final step...after neutralizing. I didn;t add anything to the relaxer. I wanted to leave it as is since I'm not sure what it will or won't do...lol I used Index II. I left it on for 30 mins.

Polly is great I agree. I got about 3oz of the shampoo and intense mask and some other thing. Considering how much they cost...those 3 oz samples are all over $40USD.

Ok, my test date of June 30th is pretty much up. I would still give Phyto 9 out of 10 (took one of because it's hard to neutralize). I was going by this piece of hair in my very front which has not been straight in AGES because the lye relaxers could handle it. It would look straight then a week (after 1-3 washes) it would look AFRO again. Well 7+ washes later the hair still looks relaxed. No reversion.
