It just looked like frizzy/kinky straight hair. The puff in the vid in OP looks like straight up kink/4b hair. Big difference, IMO.

But maybe being on a hair board has made me sensitive. I'm sure it looks the same to most people or they didn't even notice it.

It looks closer to a puff in the original than silky straight he's rocking now. I doubt they were on a hunt to find "Afro kinky blowdried" textured hair just for the 10 second intro.
