TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I think daily co washing is beneficial for my growth. I've been doing this the past month and my hair is growing nicely. The winter has been brutal in Long Island so I have not been doing this regularly. I'm going to do this more regular and see if this is the case. It has been a month since my second BC. I can almost twist my nape. I can't wait until I am able to do my whole head and look decent.:yep: So close!

That's great news DD. Keep up the good work!:clapping: I'm thinking about going back to daily cowashing as well. I think I got good growth and retention when I used co-washed everyday when doing the C&G in braids.:yep:

what conditioner did you use during crown and glory..that didn't cause build up?

I used Suave Humectant, TreSemme Naturals, Suave Damaged Care, Infusium 23 (the rinse out). I would use SH or TN for moisture every time I cowashed and I used SDC or Infusium 2-3 times a week for a shot of protein (my hair loves protein). I didn't have a problem with buildup because I clarified with a baking soda and water solution once every 2-3 weeks.:look:

ITA, several months after my BC, I co-washed daily until it got gotten so long that my air drying time slowed. My growth was amazing! I assumed my hair was growing so fast simply because I was natural. After it reached the same length as pre-BC, I assumed that genetically, my hair could only reach a certain length.

After learning about and starting my HHJ, I learned about co-washing, (which I had been doing all along and but didn't call it so). I started co-washing again in the summer months and noticed growth in a short amount of time.

I've read Njoy's post and her growth is great. (Search her if you haven't already) It seems that lots of ppl are on the sulfur kick, me included. BUT, I'm convinced that her speed of growth is mostly attributed to her daily co-washing.

I have to say that when I cowash 3x a week I saw a lot more growth as well. I plan to start back cowashing at least 2x a week and shampoo once a week! I'm transitioning by the way. Come to think about it I cowash a lot the last time I transition and had a lot of growth, my hair also was healthier.

i've been cowashing daily since my bc. i'm hoping this is the case, b/c i'm looking forward to summer, and hoping to have a little more length by them.

also with her little-no manipulation method she was able to retain ALL her growth :yep:

I too am a cowasher, I only cowash 3 times a week, but it has definitely help me grow and retain length because I am putting lost moisture back into my hair. Keep doing it DDtexlaxed, because you won't regret it. :-)

I agree! For me, when I would was the dishes or take a shower I would notice my nails would grow from the contact with water. Considering that hair and nails go hand in hand (keratin is the major structural component in both hair and nails). It seemed to make sense. Daily washes makes my hair grow more. It's not a substantial amount but it is noticeable. Good Post!!!

How can you lot be sure that it is cowashing that's growing your hair? Is it possible that the massaging your scalp each day may be growing it?

Because cowashing allows for a clean scalp and moisturized strands, both of which are necessary for good growth.

yes...i too have posted about the amazing growth & thickness I was achieving from increased washing/cowashing as well

alot of science (simple & complex) behind that one

but yes increased circulation & scalp cleansing are most of it, using h20 as your daily moisturize factor (optimal), etc.etc. etc.

I too have noticed a significant increase in growth since I started cowashing almost daily! The reason I started, is because I also followed Njoy's footsteps with the nightly sulfur application so I wanted to wash it out every morning. I am praying that it also helps to thicken my hair as well. I am loving Tresemme Naturals right now for cowashing!

I'm not sure if this is what has given me so much growth in the first two weeks of my HHJ, but my new growth is significant so far (I'm in a sew-in). I've been co-washing every other day/shampoo and DC once a week.

Im not able to do daily washings of any kind. Wet hair + manipulation = breakage for me. The less time I spend touching my hair, the better.

Daily cowashing has definitely helped my retention in the past.

Eta: this is when I was relaxed.
