Curve-salon Coil Out 101

i did finger coils last weekend coincidentally...with ssld...

but i didnt undo the coils...i may try that next time...

it didnt take that long for me to do it...maybe 30 mins or 40...

maybe next time i'll also get around to doin it with curly buttercreme

That's adorable! Love it!

The most vague part in the description though is the actual "coiling" part...so I guess they just twirl a section around the finger? Hmm I'll have to try that....this would take a loong time though it looks like.

yeah i have a problem with that too. cos ive tried the just twirling stuff and my hair didnt stay twirled for too long

Looks good! Curve is definitely one of the sites that keeps me inspired to remain natural everytime I get frustrated. I may try that this weekend.

Oooo I like that!

Isn't that cute? I'll just have to find a replacement for the curly buttercreme. Can anyone recommend a nice cheap drug store or BSS brand?

Everytime i look at that dag on site it makes me want to transition again...lol thisis what happened last time...

Shoot, this is what is happening now....to me! I never thought that I would start missing my natural hair. It was always such a problem for me but I hate, HATE, HATE, HATE the way my hair looks permed. To me, it looks thin and lifeless unless styled. And with my natural hair, I can put it into a puff ponytail and that's the style!

I'm texturized now and after looking at afashionslave's album, I truly miss what my hair could do....sigh. I't will be a year to grow it out and then I'll slowly cut off the text'ed part.

That is very cute! It does look time consuming though. I think I'll try that one day...

It does look like it would be take about an hour to do. Plus it looks like you have to have your hair soaking wet so I'd be styling in the tub LOL!

I think I will try this when I wash this Sunday. I'll post pics if it goes well....

this is the site that made me go natural..love it!!

Yes it's making me go completely natural again too. This one girl had my exact hair type and they did a shingling method on her hair and it came out soo beautiful. I love big hair so it was perfect for me. My hair goal is to have my all natural hair reach shoulder length while curly. Check out her before and after photo. It's the young lady in the make love shirt, third picture from the top. I'm printing her photo out and posting it up for inspiration.

I think they do it with a comb to assist. do they? Well anyway post pics if you can!

I own one of these...yet still can't figure out how to coil right  I always end up finger coiling. :(

I like that comb. The demo looks so dang easy! You would think coiling with the little comb part your hair would tangle up in there somehow.

They have great techniques on the curve website. I love the before and afters.

I did comb coils two weeks ago and then separated about a week later. I really liked the effect, sorry didn't take pics.

Great post!! It’s funny that you posted this because last night I happened to be twirling my new growth around my hands after I applied some gel and water and I got coils and loose spirals. However, some of my natural hair close to the scalp didn’t coil at all. Could this be due to heat damage from my last press & curl? I would love to try this style once I’m 100% natural, but I would hate to have some of my hair not coil up!

my hair wont coil up or curl up all the way to the roots...i have cottony/spongy hair....so my roots r most always baggy....

I know some people use clips at the root of the comb coil to keep it from unraveling. When I got my hair comb coiled, my hair didn't unravel and I think it's b/c my stylist used a lot of product (BBglass). Maybe if u use a lot of product it won't unravel.

Using some loc and twist gel gives great results, especially for hard to coil hair. I have comb coiled my hair a couple of times and it took a couple of hours -- my hair was about 6 inches at the time. I didn't clip the coils down and allowed them to air dry -- I think that is why they flattened out when I slept.

I tried it using a rat tailed comb but when i untwisted it it looked terrible i guess I do not have enough hair"volume /number of strands' for mine to look like that. but my baby drop curls were cute though.I usef got2be sexy voluptuous volume styling lotion in the round red bottle.
