I saw this tutorial - well actually these are this person's results, and she links to the tut that she used.

I'm about to take my weave down and give it a rest with the "added" hair for awhile. It's gettin' too dang hot for all that! But anywho, I think I want to try this style for when I take down. I'm about 14 months post, and I think I will be around layered APL when I take down, but I'm not totally sure...

If anyone's tried this I'd love to see pics!

Way of the topic...
But Is that really weave your wearing
in your siggy???

LOL. Yes it is. :yep:

If you go to my fotki you can see my transitioning hair, and the protective styles (braids/weaves) that I've worn.

IT'S so NATURAL
loookinng!!!!!
I'll go to your fotki?
Is an account needed to see
the pics

My daughter use to do this method about a year ago and loved it!

Did she wear it out in a fro or did she make a puff or wear a band with it?

I can't believe nobody on this board has pics of them rocking this style! :ohwell:

I think I'm going to try later today - I'm eager to chop, but I don't think I'm totally ready for the "mental" change yet so I think this'll help blend the straight ends I still have. :yep:

I have pics of my curly fro in my fotki, I don't do it the way she does it though, but I think that's because my hair isn't as long. I only put rollers on the front section and I never wear a headband I just let it be free.

I don't have any pictures of my curly fro but I tried it twice. I twist then roll with flexirods. It gives me big hair but it doesn't turn out like the ladies on YouTube.

I will keep trying to get it "right" I didn't take pictures because I would always forget or something tragic happened like getting caught in the rain like the last time. I want tighter curls so I am going to try next time without the flexirod. Hmmm. Might try it today.

TQ

I think I want tighter curls too, so I will do it on damp hair and make tighter/smaller twists.

I think the flexirod will help keep the tension as it dries - I can't get perm rods to say in ever.

This just looks so much easier (and more consistantly textured) than the individual or flat twistouts. My straight ends never look quite right. :nono:

I knew exactly what this was before I clicked your link. I've tried it a few times but I haven't mastered it yet. I didn't get the definition I was looking for so I just use it as a means to stretch my hair for a braid out or twist out.

Not only is that link misleading but it's also unfair. CurlyChronicles could dunk her head in a toilet bowl, flush then go for a long drive with her head out of the window and her hair would STILL come out looking good. I love her vids and  her hair!

I can't see YT at work but I am assuming it's the Lisa Akbari(sp) curly from. There was a thread about this awhile ago and I have some pics in the folder on my profile. I did it after doing a twist out and it was alright but definitely could have looked better.

AGREED! My curlyfro looks nothing like hers or ItsHeatherNicole's. I have never seen her hair looking "bad".

...it was alright but definitely could have looked better.

Yep, my thoughts exactly I don't know what I am doing "wrong" I tried it again today. With brown paper bag rollers and just rolled into itself. I will take pictures after I wash this masque off my face.

I did this last year when I was transitioning... I really liked it...

^^^temilnd that is CUTE girl

I USUALLY rock my hair in a curly fro (I will add pics when I get home my DIYers and the Salon ones) HOWEVER let me just say that I wish I had seen this yesterday before I set my hair because that is SO much less time consuming to acheive a look that is very similar to my day 5 and beyond curly fro...I will DEF try that in a couple months

I did this with perm rods while my hair was wet and the curls came out too tight.

I might try it on dry hair with bigger rods to see if I like it.

You can also twist or braid your hair in sections loosely, then roll it and tuck in the space at the root. Comes out the same!:yep: I do this style when I'm wearing small twists, it gives my hair a curly bob look.

That is REALLY cute! Hopefully mine comes out that well..I figure if it doesn't I can make a curly bun or puff of some sort.

I'm working in a time crunch so I'm going to sit under the dryer - has anyone set that way or did you all airdry?

That method never works for me. My hair isn't very dense and my strands are kind of fine so I have to do a bantu knot out in order to get a curly fro that looks full. It always comes out great when I do it that way (do about 15 two strand twists, then bantu knot them, air dry over night).
