Curling irons

My mom asked me the other day what she could use to clean her barrel irons. I told her I would ask the ladies on LHCF.

I use the cleaning spray they sell at sallys on my irons when they are warm(unplugged)
I believe some people use a baking soda paste or rubbing alcohol on a cloth.

What is the cleaning spray called?
This may be a dumb question but would you use the same thing to clean a straigtening comb? If not what would you use.

I'm not sure about hot combs.I've seen them cleaned with damp cloth once they are cooled.
