My hair has been damage by a perm before and it thin out in the center, but I never needed a dermatologist. After I did the BC my hair started to grow in thicker in the middle but I noticed it didn't grow back as thick as it once was.

I have one tiny spot that no longer grows hair on the back left side of my head. It is due to the constant use of relaxers in my earlier years. I am just grateful there is so much hair back there you would never be able to find it.

Her blog is very interesting. I didn't realize the shots would cause dents.

my hair thinned out from relaxing and using color but never to the point of baldness. i will never relax, color or wear fake hair again. not knocking it though lol.

That was a very interesting blog! I have never experienced alopecia, but I have to imagine it to be very traumatizing.

Oh yeahhhh...I remember her. I think she was featured on BGLH. She misused relaxers, color, and glue so badly it caused her hair loss. It was very sad, but it's great to see that she's recovering.

Relaxers started to thin my hair out and I was only relaxed four years!:nono: I didn't have healthy hair practices back then either so that contributed but the relaxer also started to give me problems I never had before like dandruff so yea I'm happy that I'm fully natural.

She has made some great progress. I can appreciate her willingness to share her journey with the internet world. I am sure she can help/motivate plenty of ladies.

wow!!! thats terrible, but i'm glad she is getting better! I just found out a few months ago my cousin (on my mothers father side) has Alopecia. No bad chems, no weaves etc just one day her hair started falling out. She only has a few stings left. She is very depressed! She was into sports and now she quit the team. She doesn't want to do anything but stay at home! Her mother bought her a few wigs(LF's i believe) but that is not helping with her self esteem.

Some people say they are NOT their hair, but I am! I would lose my mind if this happened! *kisses hair* We are blessed on this board!

My hair must be gansta because I have been using relaxers since I was 13 and I have never had good hair practices. My hair has always been easy to grow to BSL with no care. Now that I'm taking care of it, it see,s to grow so slow, but maybe that's bacause I'm watching it, lol.

She is making great progress. My hair is thinning out on top from relaxers as well. This is why I'm transitioning again.

It's been a couple of months since I've checked on her blog. She's making great progress. I don't like the term "creamy-crack," but I think it's really important that she's documenting her experiences so other women can make informed choices.

Hmm, I'll have to read more about these steroid injections. I wonder if the results are permanent or if they have to be done forever. If the former, I would consider them for my genetically thinning crown.

Stuff like this makes me realise just how lucky I have been. I have been letting stylists abuse my hair for over 10 years plus my own neglect and my hair always grew back no matter what happened to it but in September this year it started rebelling. It wasn't much - just noticed a thin patch at the top of my crown but it was enough for me to go completely berserk. Then I found LHCF and BHM . Thank God! Just in the nick of time.
