"Crack, a habit forming hair fix": Is it me, or is in poor taste?

I got a sample in my Folica order and found myself instantly offended.

While we make the allusions to "creamy crack" in the privacy of our own homes (and hair forums) I find it so tacky for this term to be used commercially. What's next, "Crystal Meth" for your nails?!

I will humbly accept a reality check if I'm just being an uptight "fuddy-duddy" but right now I'm feeling "mini-scandalized".:ohwell:

P.S. And, no, I haven't tried it yet.

P.P.S. I know you'll be wanting to see the ingredients:

Water, Isononyl Isononanoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyacrylamide, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Fragrance, Cyclomethicone, Mica, Eutrepe Oleracea (Acai), Fruit Extract, Decylene Glycol, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Titanium Dioxide, Hydrolyzed Silk, Laureth-7, Methylisothiazolinone.

I'm with you, OP, I do not think that you are being up-tight. Crack is not a good name for a hair product. Which company is producing this?

I'm natural, but I prefer not to refer to relaxers as crack or creamy crack. I don't think it's cute or catchy. When using those terms to refer to a relaxer a certain implication is being made about the user, not the product, that I think it wrong. I would never use this product, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

I agree with all that it is a pretty outlandish name for a product
BUT!(just playing devil's advocate)
What if it was the best conditioner ever and made your hair the silkiest, softest it has ever been for a reasonable price? Would you still boycott the product even though your hair loves it?

I am not offended. However, I do think it is a poor name choice for this product.

It's a poor name choice for sure. What happens if someone asks me what I use on my hair? What am I suppose to say then? That I use "Crack"?! No thank you!
THEM: Your hair is so pretty, it really has grown.
ME: Thank you.
THEM: What do you use to get your hair like that?
ME: I use a little "Crack" every morning and...
THEM: *WTH?!*

Wasn't there an energy drink that went by that name? The ingredients don't look the best. But wow at the name...

Not offended but it definitely warrants an eye roll. I hate it when companies try too hard with their shock value.

I don't call relaxers "creamy crack", either because I was never addicted to it and never needed it...I just used them.

I think whatever the "Crack" manufacturers were trying to do by naming their product that, they didn't do.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: I can't believe you went there!:lachen:

Why exactly are you offended?

Let me clear up that I'm not "let's-riot-in-the-street" offended, just "I'm-not-giving-them-my-money" offended.

But as @prettybyrd stated, I don't think the term "creamy crack" is cute, and I don't actually use it myself.

Given that crack cocaine is (regrettably) mostly used in urban neighborhoods, mostly by poor people, and mostly by blacks and hispanics, and given all the pain and suffering that it has inflicted upon this demographic, I can't help but take offense by the lack of sensitivity and good judgement by whatever committee who decided that it was a good idea to use this name for a hair product.

It's later in the day now, and I'm not feeling so strongly about it. But I still think it's tacky and yucky.

P.S. I might try the little sample, and if it's good, I will tirelessly search until I find a good substitute with similar ingredients. They.Are.Not.Getting.My.Money.:nono:
