Deep Thinker
I waited all Winter long for an 81 degree summer-like day where I could ride in the car and let the wind whip my hair. :badidea: I washed and DC'd last night and flat-ironed this morning so I knew I'd have some extra swang today. Little did I know how darn annoying it would be!! All it did was get stuck in my lip gloss and look crazy!! I'm between SL and APL with layers so it doesn't just lay back in place after it blows. :nono:

Does it ever get better where you enjoy your hair blowing in the wind? I'm thinking I won't be able to walk around without a barrette or a headband on without looking crazy. I couldn't even see with it blowing in my eyes. This isn't as much fun as I thought it would be. I cannot wait to get past this length!!!!

Can anyone relate??? And when did you get to where you could enjoy it without it looking like a tumbleweeed?

Oh well, had to get that rant out of the way. Hope everyone had a great day and had a chance to enjoy this nice weather (that is, IF you had nice weather today).

@Hairsnob, I'm sorry but that's funny. :lachen: Never really tried it so can't really identify with you or give you pointers, but your account makes it hard to feel sorry for you coz you tell it like you're related to Chris Rock.

My Spanish friend with butt length hair tells me it drives her nuts when it gets caught in her handbag strap or she sits on it like when she gets in her car, and she'd cut it to SL if it wasn't for her hubby who doesn't even like her to trim it for neater ends. She literally looks so irritated with it sometimes, that instead of hating or envying her, I find myself feeling sorry for her.

Maybe it's a skill to be learned? Like you need a fan first of all, and a studio...and a convertible parked in the studio then a professional photographer  I think it would help to watch a few of Charlie's Angels shows to get the knack of doing it right. And no lip gloss, OK?

Practice, my dear, practice. You can't just show up on stage without having rehearsed your lines and expect to get a standing ovation. :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

Nonie LOL you just gave me a good belly rolling laugh!! I wish I had that problem your Spanish friend has wth the butt length hair! I'd put it up in a high pony and watch it swing all day.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna whip out my old box fan from the basement and see if I can practice the technique. Just watch, I'm gonna be whipping for real by the summer time and find a hair-friendly lipgloss too!! JUST WATCH!!! :lachen:

^^Hairsnob, atta girl! That's the spirit! Can't quit on a first try. I might hit you up one day for tips, so I am thrilled by your determination to get this sucker right.

When my hair was longer I've accidently rolled it up the window. Didn't know it, turned my head...OUCH. MAC lipgloss is the worst when it comes to hair getting stuck in it. And food, it gross but I've gotten food in hair a lot especially ice cream. The wind is blowing, its a hot day, you are eating an icream cone = hair disaster, lol.

I left out details, the wind is blowing in the car while your driving. That's why you roll up the window in the first place. That's how it gets stuck in the window.

EEEK!! Couldn't inagine food getting caught in it LOL. I'm cracking up about accidentally rolling it up in the window. That's another problen I can't wait to have.... at least I'm saying that now LOL

I know what you mean. My hair is around the same length and the only time I enjoy it is when the wind is blowing the "right" way. LOL

LMAO! I always try to picture myself in a convertible like the white girls with my hair blowing in the wind but I never picture it going well...so I never try (and I don't have access to a convertible lol)

There is nothing worse than walking on a windy day, entering a building and catching your hair in a reflection! When I first BC and was a TWA I missed the wind blowing in my hair but I loved the freedom of not worrying about what it looked like when I was out of the wind!

Does it EVER blow the right way?? I wonder if my hair were all one length would it not look so bad? Hmmmmm

You know, I think that's my problem I watch too much darn TV and thought it was gonna be like that LOL. Their hair goes right back in place but not all of ours does that LOL.

Yes, I just knew I was too cute walking down the street and got in the store and looked in the mirror and I looked like I had a bad weave with the layers on top sticking up out over the longer layers in the back. Just a complete mess!!

I'm going back to the fuller curls because at least it hides the uneven lengths.

Oh yeah @Nonie..... I thought of a solution for the hair getting stuck in the lip gloss..... maybe... Is Castor Oil lip friendly?? I bet I could use that in place of my gloss and it would probably give my lips a meeeeean shine. That way if my hair gets stuck in it I could be moisturizing and sealing at the same time LOL.

I tried this when I was relaxed and bsl, it looked kinda awesome as it was flying around, but when t settled it wasn't pretty. Not to mention the time spent fnger combing the tangles. My advice is just say no. lol

LOL... here I was thinking that BSL people had it good....

when it settled it wasn't pretty<---- that is toooooo funny!:lachen:

LOL. This is hilarious!

On a side note, just yesterday I was looking at some photos of one of my old classmates. Her hair is FLYING in every picture she has, and it looks awesome. But I highly suspect she has been honing her hair-whipping skills for years now. Maybe you just need some practice, and you too can be a pro wind-in-hair-haver.

I love riding in the car and wind whipping around. But you best believe I will have on a scarf LOL.

OP your description reminded me of Bridget Jones when she's riding in the convertible and gets out with her hair looking a hot mess.

lol. I can relate! I've been there many times op.

i love the way the wind feels on my scalp when i'm driving and its whipping around. My sun glasses blocks my eyes from the sting of my hair whipping in them, and my lips are either bare or slightly stained when i do this (out of trial and error). when I'm in my car, i'm care free, windows down. When I arrive at my destination, I finger comb, secure with claw clamp, comb or pins and then go.

Does it EVER blow the right way?? I wonder if my hair were all one length would it not look so bad? Hmmmmm

Not that often but when it does no one can tell me anything. I'll be walking to the car in the parking lot and the wind softly blows toward me causing all my hair to neatly blow back. Usually I just enjoy it but if I'm really feeling myself I might flip it back with one hand or look over to the side and whip my hair just a wee bit:grin::grin:

yeah it gets old having your hair stuck under the seatbelt or when your laying down trying to look cute, your hair is under you and you cant move your head. and lets not talk about getting it caught in the window when you roll it up as its flying in the wind. smh.

Im between APL and bsl now and today was that kinda day.

I had my hair in a two day old rollerset that was upkept with pincurling which gave me loose bouncy waves.

It was windy, but HOT as well and my hair kept getting stuck to my lip gloss and flying everywhere.

Its annoying, but I still like the fact that my hair is long enough to have this problem.

you can enjoy it but the wind for the most part is an enemy of hair. My hair is between wl and hl and as it goes out it looks nice but then well points to sig generally speaking.

To get that awesome hair wind lift practice stepping into the breeze. figure how you have to turn you head. And keep a comb that you can discreetly run through your hair.

Girl there's a method to the madness!!

1) When I get in the car, my hair goes in a bun and a scrunchie. One to the left where I won't have to sit forward cause a bun at the back of my head is in the way, and not on the right where it can get caught in the seatbelt.

2) Lipgloss goes on once you reach your destination. That way you're free to have the windows down, cause if your hair is stray some will escape your ponytail and blow around. I wear some cute sunglasses for this reason. (Aforementioned would apply to warm weather, I don't wear sunglasses nor open the window in the winter lol!)

3)Once you get out of the car, or right before you get out, put on lipgloss. Then take the bun out and give a seccy head toss. Keep the shades on, cause if your hair still blows well at least it won't poke you in the eye and blind you.

4)Persevere! If you have someone in the car with you giving you funny looks, ignore them. The seccy hair swang will be worth it in the end.

(I really need to go to bed.)

Girl, you ain't playing!! You got it all down pat. Taking notes for the next time LOL. The sunglasses definitely would help. Either way, the windows down is a no-no I see.

That siggy is toooooooooooooo funny!!! EXACTLY!!!

I so laughed out loud at work. Yes the hair get stuck on the lips with lip gloss and yes I am conscious when the wind is whipping my hair. Yesterday was windy like heck, I was more concern of my skirt flying up than my hair (which was up but the wind was snatching it out of its hair claps).

When I stepped indoors and with my walking buddies about, I unclipped my hair, gave it a shake and smooth then pinned it back up. It was like look at me, look at my hair kind of moment.

I wonder the hair will look hot if you had wavy curls in them with the wind blowing it around instead of the straight look.

Lol, I think my hair may only be slightly longer but I love for it to whip in the wind in this sunny weather atl has been having lately.
Oh but I wear my [straight] hair in big curls, so the more it whips, the better it looks to me! I do keep chopsticks on hand in case it gets out of control though.
