Corrective relaxer on hair 2 inches from the root

Today my mother relaxed my hair. However, when I looked in the mirror prior to washing it out it was very obvious that she did not bring the relaxer through all the new growth. So basically an inch and a half near the root is straight while another two after that is not processed. What to do people? I needs some help. When can I do a corrective? How, since the root was processed? Can I use the left over relaxer that I didn't use (linange)? Help!! I will post some pics after my hair dries.

Thanks for bumping for me! I sent a PM to a member tamrin and she suggested that I wait 6 weeks and put my hair in braids and only put the relaxer on the 2 inches below the braid. The braid being the new growth that I have acquired in the six weeks time and the previously relaxed hair. I am thinking about also putting large duckbilled clicks at the end of the braid so I don't stray and then put another clip at the bottom of the 2 inch unrelaxed portion so I don't overlap. However, I needs some other suggestions like how long do I leave on the relaxer? The same length as normal since alot it never had any relaxer on it in the first place. I intend to use the rest of my Linange on it.

I have been doing searches on correctives, and you're supposed to leave it on half the time. Look at this http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=122927&highlight=corrective

That should help you.

This thread is greath thanks. I am still confused about the processing time. It says that you should leave the relaxer on for half the time b/c you are essentially pic up where u left off but I dont think a relaxer even touched that area.

Also, I'm a natural, but at one point was considering re-relaxing. Look up the threads on using silk amino acids to protect the hair while relaxing. I believe a product that comes to mine is the chi product. Apply it to the rest of the hair that you don't want over processed, just so in case any relaxer touches those areas, you won't be over processed. It's a way to double check that you don't get any relaxer on the other hair and overprocess it. I'd hate to see you lose hair. HTH

In the post that was recommeneded the poster used condtioner on the hair she didn't want to be processed but used chi silk infused on the hair that was underprocessed that she wanted to relax. That confused me a bit.

Well I did a corrective last night and it came out fine. I didn't put anything on my hair to protect it. I left it on for about 3 mins and rinsed. Then I did a protein treatment with Nexxus Emergencee. Then DC'd. My hair is so much more manageable. I'm bone straight, but that's hpw I like my hair.

Awesome!! Was the area you needed to correct 2 inches from the root like me? Also, if you left it on for 3 minutes, did you apply relaxer in sections. For example, apply first section wait 3 min rinse, then apply second section, wait 3 min rinse and so on.

How long had it been since your original relaxer (the one you were correcting)? thx

One thing I do when I do a corrective relaxer is I put vasoline or hair grease on all the relaxed hair that is okay and not on the part I want to redue. That way I won't overlap and I can take my time with the part that I need to do over. I hope this helps.

I just a small corrective on one side of my head. You apply relaxer ONLY the hair you want relaxed a little bit. Comb it through but watch the time. I do not leave it on for very long at all. I'd wait about a week or so between relaxer and corrective. Use protein on your hair to strengthen it. Neutralize and DC as normal after. I use 2 min Keratin after always. Hope this helps. I may not make it completely straight because I do not leave it on for long but it removes some bulk from it.
