Your hair is always growing whether your hair is up, down, braided, or loose.
What you need to focus on is protecting the ends of your hair. Once you moisturize/oil the ends and keep them in good health you'll retain your growth.
Cornrows, I guess if done properly will pretect the ends of your hair, just make sure to keep them moisturized as much as you can.

I agree with emgurl. The key to experiencing growth is protecting your ends. As long as the cornrows are not done too tightly, you should be o.k. Since having it in cornrows will keep you from playing with your hair all the time, you may find that you experience more growth than usual.
thats good but if u r moisturising yo scalp too u may need to wash the scalp more frequently coz oil blocks yo pores which stops it from breathing properlly and then growin too. i also hope u kno the differnce between moisturising and oiling coz for yrs i wondered y my hair broke so much wen oiled it everyday

I have interlocks at the moment (cornrows with hair interlocked on). Anyhoo, what I do is spray with scurl 2x a week, oil scalp daily with proven oil mixture and wash every 10-14 days. Before I wash I do a hotoil treatment with castor, olive and honey for at least 1 hr. Then I apply Aussie Moist conditioner with baking soda without first rinsing the oils out (I'm doing the no poo method). I leave this in for at least 1 hr, then I rinse. My hair has no buildup at all (except just around the hairline...front, back, sides. I can't seem to get away from that..could be face creams and soaps...hmmm...) and is super soft. HTH!
