Corinne Bailey Rae's rollerset

OK, now that I'm going to start wearing rollersets, I'm thinking with my short nape and longer sides & front, I could get a rollerset like Corinne Bailey Rae. My question is, what kind of rollers/rods should I use to get this look?

I'm thinking of taking this picture to the salon with me on Friday.

She was actually on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. Of course I was all up in her rollerset. I don't know if she's relaxed now or just had a trim, fresh press and no humidity, but the curls were really defined and shiny even though they were picked out a little bit more than in the pick below.

I'm not good at roller sizes, but in the Goody's brand I think you could use the Green ones in the top and the yellow ones for the shorter sides and back.

HTH!

I acheived a similar look using blue flexirods on air dried hair overnight. Very simple no wet hair, and no sitting under the dryer for hours. I applied a dime sized portion of vatika oil for shine and finger seperated the curls when I took out the flexirods ;)

Hello. I read an interview with her one of those hair care magazines a couple of months ago. She has natural hair but she use to relax. She twirls her hair around her fingers, while in the shower, with conditioner to create those spirals.

Love your flexirod rollerset Trimbride! I like a lot of your hair styles in your album. I'll be referring to it often. : bouncy :

I did see her on SNL about a month or so ago, maybe it was rerun. Nevertheless, I love her curls!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

I like to do the flexirod sets when I am at least 4 weeks post, the new growth gives the style lots of body. I have tried it on freshly texlaxed hair and it doesn't come out as nice:look:

You may be able to try the conditioner suggestion as well, but I know that aint even gonna work on my 4B hair:lachen:

Good Luck!

Oh, cool. That's what I use to do to define my curls. But I didn't do it in the shower, moreso when I was just messing in my hair. It really works you all.

I agree with Timbride, a flexirod set would be perfect and you can use different size flexis, here's my pic
ah, and don't do the part in the center like I did, do it on the side:perplexed

i love this style and I've been trying to achieve it by roller-setting air-dryed 2strand twists on satin covered sponge rollers. The results are similar to Corrine and Trimbride's look but I can't figure out how to make the hair fall/fram my face. IT always springs back. Trimbride, Danysedai and other ladies: about how many flexi-rods should you use for a whole head? I like the way you have managed to pull a few of the locks down around your face. The times that i've done this style i always end up wearing it with a headband because my hair won't drop down in the front. maybe the positioning of the rollers, maybe b/c i am not using flexi-rods? HElp.

well, I used flexirods and parted the hair in the front in 6 or 8 sections, after the hair dried(under dome dryer), I pulled the curls to the front over my face
I need to try that again, specially with the NG
