Contemplating relaxer from natural

Hi, I am a new but old head here. I went back to natural about one year ago. But now, I am thinking about going back to the relaxer. I don't seem to have the time needed to care for natural hair ( small child at home). But there are a few things I have forgot about having a perm.

Mainly, how long to you need to wait after washing you hair before you get a relaxer?

I know it is a stupid question, but I really don't know.

Welcome Back I think the rule to is wait about 72hrs after washing and be sure to put any liquid (surge, MTG, water, s-curl, etc) on the scalp.

I waited 4 days. I just returned to the world of relaxers after over a year natural. I'm happy w/ my decision especially since i know i'll get bored and go back to natural later on anyway. Do what makes you happy.
Maybe tex lax so u'll have some curl/body still....?

Well, I have made an appointment with my old stylist to get my hair relaxed. Sort of nervous. Since I really don't know the length.

I am natural and I don't want you to relax just beacuae its eaiser. If you ask any of the ladies here, I think everyone will tell you that being relaxed takes a lot of time too.
What is you current regimen?? Maybe it just needs to be simplified. If you really want to relax thats cool too..but explore all you options first.

I have weighed my options. My regime was : pre condition my hair with olive/honey mix, Wash my hair with HE break's over, deep condition with lekair cholesterol, moisturize with long aid activator/aloe vera mix, then twist. for maintenance i use jojoba oil and aloe vera gel.

This took entirely too long. I didn't put in detangle.

I'm not here to beat you over the head with my naturalness but have you really thought this through? I went natural cos relaxing was LONG! You say you've got a child at home and that little routine you've got up there is taking too long, but think about adding in blowdrying or straightening, wrapping in the evening, protein treatments AND of course the trips to the salon and the cost. Like I said I'm not beating I'm just, perhaps, reminding. Good luck either way and wait like 3 days but if that's not possible, grease up ur scalp, don't scratch it at all, leave your hair out and try not to comb and you can cut it down to 2.

Wow you have a very simple regime. At first when I went natural I thought I took too much time on my hair but then I sat down and wrote it out.

Natural Hair

Sunday
Wash, condition, detangle, twist

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat
Take off scarf, spritz go

Relaxed Hair
Sunday
Wash, condition, blowdry, flatiron, curl, wrap

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat
AM Take off scarf, comb, hot curl, style
PM Comb, lite oil, brush, wrap, cover

Natural, I had one long day, relaxed every day was a long regime.

I had to look at the big picture and natural worked out in the long term and it actually took less time to be natural then relaxed. I was not a ponytail girl.

I am sure you will make the best decision for you.

Relaxer is done. It went fine. no burns. A little underprocessing but it will be corrected at my next visit. Hair seems to be in good shape. Only cut off one inch. cool. I like it. But I want to wash it. I think he put too much biosilk in it.

ITA. I never understood how relaxed, texlaxed, texturized or natural hair was any different in maintaining If you like changing up your styles frequently natural, relaxed or whatever its basically no different. Work is work. Alot of styles are time consuming, require high and low maintenance and protection to hold that style in place ie:rollersets, braids, press & curls, braidouts, touchups, twist, twistouts, blowdry & style, using the curling iron etc.

I think you can have plenty of options relaxed or natural. I think alot of ideas about maintenance is a mindset that was passed down because it still takes an hour and sometimes more to get "hair ready" no matter natural or relaxed. JMO from being on both sides.

Everyone can have a successful wash n go if they find the right product for their hair type relaxed, natural, texlaxed or texturized. I think its more about what your comfy with really.

I am sure the og posters hair will be nice no matter what she does to it.
