Consistency vs trying new things... questions 4 pj's and everyone else

I've had a pretty tight regime this past year (very basic) and noticed so much growth and hair health progress from sticking to my tried and true's...So why am I slowly starting to go crazy in the BSS again??? I pretty much have staples to address all my hair needs, so what am i looking for?

What accounts for your pj'ism:

Are you on the hunt for your staple products?

Do you just enjoy trying new things?

Do you constantly think there's something better out there?

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists?

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$?

What accounts for your pj'ism:

I am new to trying hair products, so it's really fun.

Are you on the hunt for your staple products?

Somewhat. I am still on the search for what works best for different hair styles and my hair texture.

Do you just enjoy trying new things?

Love trying new things. Love doing product reviews.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there?

I think there might be something better for ME, not necessarily a better product. I don't think there's any one holy grail out there though. It's a combination of things.

Are you prompted by impresive ingredient lists?

Yep. If I see things in the ingredients that I know my hair likes, I'm more interested.

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$?

Raves on hair boards generally, if they meet my hair goals, make me interested in a product. I do have price limits though, and I prefer products I don't have to purchase only on-line.

What accounts for your pj'ism: I love hair care products! I also love that i can use so many different kinds. I used to think i could only use products marketed for black hair.

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? I have my staples, but I keep stocking up on them. :look:

Do you just enjoy trying new things? I do, but I hate when they don't work so it is better to stick with what I know works.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? Sometimes.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? I used to be but I realize that not products work for me regardless.

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? No. I used to, but I keep going back to the same products. I learned a lesson after a few times of that

What accounts for your pj'ism:I love to try new products, oils, ect... I spend most of my time stalking fromnaturewithlove now, reading the properties of different oils and butters to decide what I'm going to make next.;)

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? No. I've got the staples pretty much down. I love Nexxus Therrape, Humectress and Keraphix. I like the Redken All Soft and Smooth Down lines also. Those are my staples that I keep falling back on, they never dissapoint me and give excellent results.

Do you just enjoy trying new things?Absolutely. I like to read the ingrediants in new products over and over and sort of fantasize about what they will do to my hair. :p

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? Not exactly, more like variations on a theme. Here's an example: I love Keraphix as a light protien, so I want to try Phyto Organics Enphuse because I think they will be very similar.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists?Yes

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$?Some do. I love hearing about products with mostly natural ingrediants. If they have a website I like to check it out and go from there

What accounts for your pj'ism:
I can't seem to help myself. I am greedy and I am a sucker for packaging and "sweet" sounding ingredients like coconut oil, almond oil etc..
Are you on the hunt for your staple products?
I guess I am a little this has more to do with me being greedy and the high I get from buying new things. I have way too many perfumes and way too many clothes also I am a greedy person....Somebody pray for me
Do you just enjoy trying new things?
I love to try new things and I am an impulse shopper.
Do you constantly think there's something better out there?
Yes
Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists?
Yes
Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$?
Yes, Yes, Yes:spinning:

The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem.....I HAVE A PROBLEM!!!!

What accounts for your pj'ism: I'm a shopaholic in general!!! Trying to reform

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? Yeah I am still on the hunt trying to get my routine in place. Though I do know what some of them are.

Do you just enjoy trying new things? Yes!!! I get a rush trying out a new product to see how it works for my hair. And sometimes I do find something that works for me for a certain purpose so it goes into rotation.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? Yes there are somethings out there that are better...I thought I had found the perfect protein conditioner in Keraphix until I tried Emergency.

But this isn't always the case.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? Sometimes

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? YES!!!!!! Usually the recommendations are on point...right now Miconazole Nitrate

What accounts for your pj'ism:

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? Yes. I'm new to the hair health thing and I am really, really trying to find the products that I KNOW work for ME.

Do you just enjoy trying new things? Yes, but If I had my staples in order this would probably be less tempting

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? Not really.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? Absolutely, but I think this helps my pjism. Because now I know the types of ingredients to look for and what to avoid and I find myself passing over a lot of products.

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? Heck yes! your testimonials make me try all these products as I'm still trying to solidify my regime

What accounts for your pj'ism:

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? Nope- i think i pretty much found them

Do you just enjoy trying new things? I love trying new conditioners and oils.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? In terms of conditioners, some natural shampoos and oils- sometimes i do find something better than what i was previously using. I do have a hair twin here. I won't call her out but she advised me to try a product that she used and i got great results.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? Yes.

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? Not nearly as much as they used to.

I'll answer my own questions, lol ;)

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? I have everything except a moisturizing conditioner that i love.

Do you just enjoy trying new things? Depends, I try not to experiment with new things after weeks 8-12 between touch ups... the first month I'll use one new thing per wash.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? Not really, I just wish i could find a deep moisture tx that moisturizes, detangles, and leaves the hair lightweight (maybe i'm asking for too much, lol)

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? Yes

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? My last few purchases have been pure LHCF inspired (ORS pak, Salerm wheat germ mask, AO honeysuckle rose condit)

What accounts for your pj'ism: When I started my haircare journey in November 2004 my hair was so damaged, fried and broken off--I had no where to begin. That started my pj'ism-----looking for an instant hair miracle !

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? ---- Not anymore ! I finally know my staple products

Do you just enjoy trying new things? Sometimes, only if the results from a product are proven results.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? That would always be in the back of my mind--_What is the next best product better than this that I am sleeping on --- that helped my pjism in a mega way

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? YES !

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? In the beginning---absolutely--16 months later --- No.

What accounts for your pj'ism:
Constantly looking for that slip, for the best product for a good price..
Are you on the hunt for your staple products?

Do you constantly think there's something better out there?

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists?

What accounts for your pj'ism:

Former PJ checking in, I wanted to try everything I heard was good and worked on the longhairs I saw.

Are you on the hunt for your staple products?

I've pretty much found them, but I like that I've worked out the alternates but I don't keep them in stock, I just have what I need and with the alternates I don't have to go on massive searches for things.

Do you just enjoy trying new things?

Only if I think it could be a good staple or alternate. I've tried my fair share of products and alot of them didn't work for me.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there?

No, I just need products that fit into my regime, the more I can do with 1 product the better.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists?

Yes, sometimes, but I still don't run out and buy things like I used to just cause the ingredients are good cause I know that doesn't mean they're going to work for my hair.

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$?

Not anymore

What accounts for your pj'ism: I love to shop! The end!

Are you on the hunt for your staple products? No, I know what works for me.

Do you just enjoy trying new things? Yes, I enjoy trying new products. I wish more items were available as a sample first. That would definitely cut down on my pj ways.

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? That thought has crossed my mind, but I remember what is TRIED and TRUE and works for me.

Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists? No, I read the ingredient list to make sure that certain ingredients ARE present.

Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$? I have purchased products that were raved about, only to discover they did nothing for my hair.

Thanks for bumping Lucia!!

I found a deep moisture treatment that does all the things i asked for here:

Do you constantly think there's something better out there? Not really, I just wish i could find a deep moisture tx that moisturizes, detangles, and leaves the hair lightweight (maybe i'm asking for too much, lol)

Silk elements Megasilk... :yep:i am in LOVE with this stuf!!!

Are you on the hunt for your staple products?
I think so. I have a few staple DCs (ORS Pak, Banana Brulee, Aphogee 2 min) but I'm still looking for the perfect sulfate-free shampoo and daily moisturizer.

Do you just enjoy trying new things?
Yes! I've been a PJ all my life, even with makeup and skincare products. I have about 20 subtly different colors of lip gloss
Do you constantly think there's something better out there?
Of course. I am an eternal optimist. lol
Are you prompted by impressive ingredient lists?
Yes!
Do the raves on this board make you run out and spend $$$?

I can thank the lovely ladies of LHCF for about 90% of my product stash
