Okay so I've been natural for about two months. My hair has grown about an inch or 3/4th of an inch.

At first I was shampooing every other day and rinsed 1 to 2 times daily ( old habits die hard) and putting gel etc. My hair grew and thickened alot thanks to the rosemary growth spray ( mixed with vitamin E, jojoba oil, and grape seed extract, water)followed by aloe vera gel.

However most of that happened in the first month and now I feel like my hair is starting to look dry.

I start no pooing ( suave lavendar condtioner) everyday ( i rinse the conditioner ou completely I know no some people dont) , but it seems that my hair is drier/frizeer lookin now. Also, I'm back in philly where my body hates the water. So over the pass 2 days I do a final rinse with distilled water mixed with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to prevent the effects of hard water on my hair.

Is there something I'm lacking, I feel that I'm not giving my hair something it needs, it just look bored or something. I want it to be refreshed everyday...any suggestions?

sincerely the

Hi Shinka!

I'm new too. My hair is relaxed but I'm also a 4A. Are you deep conditioning in addition to doing CO washes? Type 4 hair needs lots and lots of moisture. I like using LeKair Cholesterol plus, but there are many posts on this site that discuss other options for a deep conditioner. Are you still using the gels? Some gels can be drying if they have alcohol in them. Also you might try something with glycerine or some sort of silicone in it to help with frizziness.
Whenever my hair needs freshening up during the day I use a light leave-in like pantene, or just water with coconut oil in it.
I've never used suave lavendar, but you might consider switching up your conditioner for CO washes and see if anything changes. Perhaps your hair doesn't like it anymore. I know a lot of ladies like V05 and it's as cheap as suave.

I would suggest changing one thing at a time so you can take note of how your hair responds to each new thing. I hope you can figure out what's wrong

Good Luck!

Hi Shinka, perhaps you should try doing the ACV before the conditioner wash and still do the distilled water rinse (without any ACV in it) as your final rinse. You might also consider switching to a more moisturizing conditoner or using an effectively moisturizing leave-in. My final suggestion is that the dull, dry, frizzier look may be the result of product buildup and you should try clarifying your hair.

It's almost 2 am so I hope this made sense

I agree with Nyambura...do the Acv rinse before...also I wouldn't do the ACV more than once a week. And be careful with the gel..it can be drying(my hair hates most gels...)
When I was natural I had a problem with the no poo method. So I just lightly shampooed(applying it to my scalp with a coloring bottle)...then lather up only once. The next day I just poured the distilled water over my hair(to re-wet it...applied a creamy leave in...) and that's it. I did a conditioner wash last night..but I won't tonight...because from past experience they dried my hair out...not everyone can do them.

thanks,

the gel is fine, is ic aloe vera gel and it's really good.

Umm, it might be the conditioner, I just started using it and it look nice the first time but the next couple of das after it didn't. I think I'll try no pooing every other day. And just wetting my ahir with distilled water everyday because Philly water sucks. Thanks alot.

Also I haven't done any deep conditioning in about a month, so I do that too.

I also 2nd doing a deep condition. What about using a moisturizing leave-in before applying your gel?

Hi and Welcome to the Board!

I am one that believes that wetting the hair daily is not a good thing. Check out this link from L'Oreal and what it says on hair and water.
