Conditioners post-henna

Hi everybody. I'm planning to henna for the 2nd time ever, but I need help with the conditioning process. The first time I used Karishma and made sure to DC using DPR-11, but I still experienced dryness for a few days and slight shedding. I'll be using Karishma again, but would like to know which DC should I use? I have NTM deep recovery mask, DPR-11, and SE Megasilk Olive Oil ($6.99 at Sally's btw).

Also, do I still need a leave-in like NTM Silk touch afterwards if I DC and use porosity control? TIA!

Henna isn't a protein but it has protein-ish effects. (You may have a straw-like feel after using henna). I would suggest that you use MOISTURIZING conditioners and DC when rinsing out your henna and DC'ing after. Hopefully, some of the other ladies will chime in to suggest a good DC.

I Use the Most Moisturizing Conditioner I have to DC with after I Hendigo.

I also rinse my Henna/Indigo out with either VO5 Moisture Milks, Suave Tropical Coconut or something super moisturizing as well.:yep:

It makes it easier to rinse out and it keeps your hair soft and moist in the processs (no dryness).:yep:

I rinse my henna out with either Herbal Essence Hello Hydration or Yes to Cucumbers. Once it's rinsed out, I deep condition, under a steamer, with Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment.

I use Ojon ultra hydrating conditioner to rinse out the henna. And DC overnight with either Hairveda's Sitrinillah DC or Shescentit.com's Banana Brulee DC. After rinsing the DC out, I use a leave-in by KBB, Beemine, Komaza or Darcy's Botanicals. Afterwards, I braid my hair and air dry. After removing the braids, I apply a hair butter.

So, yes, I have to condition and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize my hair. I lov e the results.

ETA: I add JBCO and Moringa oil to my deep conditioners. Leaves my hair very soft and moisturized.

I had this same issue the first time I used henna. Now I add oils and a very small amount of conditioner when making my henna and that helps some. When I rinse I use suave coconut, then DC with sauve Almond & Shea, or Neutrogena Triple Moisture mask and add Alma and Vatika, leave it on for a while with my heat cap or overnight and my hair never comes out dry. HTH

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I ended up using SE Megasilk Olive Oil and NTM silk touch leave-in. It turned out better than the first time!

I rinse out the henna with lots of running water and then use a cheapie vo5 moisture milks conditioner to finish wash the henna out of my hair.

Then it's time to DC with the most moisturizing DC I have in my stash and my favorites are Silicon Mix conditioner, Alterna Hemp Hydrate and believe it or not Renpure Organics Moisturizing DC in the red bottle.

Aubrey Organics HSR seem to work well also. I found Jason Natural Sea Kelp helpful as well.

ETA: I forgot, I use Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator and Joico Misturizing Hair Balm/Lotion for fine hair and the latter is amazing with providing softness.

Add honey and olive oil to your henna mix for moisture then follow with your choice of deep conditioner(quite a few recommendations already mentioned).

I make my henna with yogurt ,lemon, alma oil, vatika oil, and honey. Then rinse out with V05 conditioner, DC with a mix of cholesterol, humectress, olive oil, coconut oil and having popping curls afterwards.[/COLOR]

I see you have the silk elements olive oil. I wouldn't suggest using that after henna because it is a considered a light protein treatment. If you have the regular (tan & brown), I would use that. The regular MegSilk is actually my go-to conditioner. Also if you are looking for additional products to make your hair soft 'It's A 10 Miracle Leave-in' does wonders. I can guarantee you that you're hair will be suuuuuuper soft!

'Its A 10' Products can be quite pricey. Medco carries this line. Here is a link to a thread that had coupon codes for $10 off ($0.99 shipping):
