Conditioners-A Difference For You and Me?

Okay...I'm just venting here...

But, why is it that some conditioners can work wonders (or wonderfully) for some people's hair and not for someone elses'? Is it because of hair texture or follice?

Case in point: Cholestorol conditioners..Never seem to work for me but many people love them. I tried that Dark and Lovely Ultra Moisturizing conditioner and didn't care for it too much. I am going to try it once more just to make sure.

I also used ORS Hair Mayo and so many people love that one, but it didn't do anything for my hair at all.

What's going on? Can someone explain? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

lol seems we r total hair opposites carmenrose coz the two conditioners u listed work woners on my hair /images/graemlins/smile.gif i think that this is because my hair is realy dry so wen i use the D&L cholesterol it leaves my hair unbelivably moisturised and wen some1 else wit ok hair uses it , he D&L may leave the hair as moisturised as it did minebut coz your hair is always like that then it wudnt make a difference /images/graemlins/smile.gif

i kno thats the same thing i have wit protein conditoners coz they always tangle my hair and make it unbeleivably hard /images/graemlins/mad.gif

That's so funny because my hair is dry!!!

The ORS Mayo made my hair drier!! I don't know why, it just did! And the D&L was okay, it just didn't give me that va-voom I was expecting...I don't know for sure about that one. I want to try it again to make sure as I tried the ORS many many times before giving up.

Carmenrose:

I know exactly what you mean!

Motions CPR was just ok.

ORS Mayo is like a miracle for my hair.

Mizani made my hair dry (could be that I didn't have the real one)

Lekair felt like it stripped my hair of all moisture (will never use it again)

Did u use heat with the cholesterol? ORS mayo does alright on me. Cholesterol does so much better and is much cheaper. So I am off of ORS mayo. Unfortunatley I have 2 full jars to use up. Other conditioners I have tried are Nexxus Humectress /images/graemlins/nono.gif I would advise NO ONE to buy it. It leaves my hair feeling blah and tangly-the price is ridiculous. I have had better results with a $2 conditioner. Suave Coconut tropical /images/graemlins/nono.gif It is ok. I need more moisture and the smell is YUCKY to me. Mizani Fulfyl is is not bad and even the Scurl juice is just okay- No miracles for me.
But I can say the best conditioner I have found is the Keracare Humecto. I am about to post about it. Try that. KeraCare Humecto left my hair soft and detangled. I can tell that it is very very moisturized. Girl it only took me almost 1 year to find it! But it is great! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Finding the right conditioner for my hair was like searching for the right man. I kept looking and trying until I got the right one (the one that worked for me)........ /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was so pressed to get the Tropical avocado conditioner(Dominican version) and when I finally got it, after desperate months of searching.........it did nothing for my hair. Im going to give it another try afetr a fresh relaxer.

Recently I bought Aubrey Organics Jojoba and Aloe hair rejuvenating conditioner. I plan to use that this weekend and then Im going to give Keracare humecto a try. Hopefully that combo will work.

I absolutely love CPR and cholesterols! i'm falling out of love with my ORS though. my hair has not been as soft as it should be with my last 4 uses /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif its kinda pricey for me to restock anyway (ok well that's a lie, its just i can buy like 3 cholesterols in place of the ORS) Even though my hair is super fine, i need condits that have weight to them, I was shocke when the pantene condit worked 4 me!
My biggest beef with a condit i thought would do wonders was the Kenra Intensive Emollient... another one Mizani moisturfuse.. and Elasta QP leave in!!!
Carmen ... what consistency (in a condit)do you typically think works for your hair?

I also found NOTHING special about tropical advocado OR the milk and honey version, and i despised suave coconut /images/graemlins/mad.gif,

Im following with what Ngaa saidd about having o.k hair. I do think I have o.k hair thats whey I never really benefit or notice any difference from conditioners, beacause my hair is o.k. I dont have dry hair and my hair is not suffernig from any damages. I remember when my hair was severely damaged, my hair benefited alot form conditioners, especially cholesterol for dry/damaged hair. But now I have normal hair.

tell me about it. i raved to my sister about ORS hair mayo, she used it and it tangled her hair and made it HARD!!! Now...99% of those who use it make the hair soft. what the heck!

CarmenRose-

I also tried the ORS Mayo and it did nothing for me either. I will
not be buying that again.

I'm also currently using the Hollywood Beauty Olive Oil Cholesterol
conditioner which is better on my hair than the ORS Mayo, but I find
that it does NOT perform extremely well when I mix it with other stuff (oils,
bsmolasses, honey, etc.)

In the past, I've also tried LeKair cholesterol and HATED IT!!

Now, over the years, the only cholesterol that has NEVER LET ME DOWN
was Queen Helene Cholesterol (regular version, not the Super version, or the
Ginseng, etc.) This stuff is cheap (average of $1.99 for a large tub-- 99 cents when
it is on sale) and it leaves my hair moisturized, soft, and SHIIIIIINY!

When I mix it with Black Strap Molasses or oils, it is even better.

I have 3b/3C hair and I know other 3b/3Cs, 3C/4A who also love it.
Maybe you should try it?

At least you won't be out of much money if it doesn't work.

BTW, I think it works best when used under a warm dryer (with cap)
for 20-30 minutes. Also, if you end up buying this and liking it DON'T use it too much. I find that over time, it's best to alternate with other moisturizing conditioners for the best "long-term" effects.

Im with Blkmane on that one, Queen Helene's cholestrol is always at its best.

I ALWAYS deep condition with heat.

Cholestorols I fear aren't meant for my hair.. /images/graemlins/frown.gif I am going to try that D&L cholestorol again and if that doesn't work, I'll leave it alone. Mostly because I have only used it once and hope that it works this time. But, if it doesn't, I will gladly trade it with someone.

I LOVE Motions CPR and Moisture Plus and Silk Protein conditioners. And also Pantene's Smooth and Sleek. I used to use Pantene conditioners back in the day and forgot how excellent they are (but I want to save that one for conditioner washes.

My staples are the Motions conditioners. It's just that I'm such a PJ, I always want to try new conditioners so that my old ones don't lose their effectiveness. Next on my list to try are: L'oreal Nature's Therapy and Fantasia IC.
