Conditioner Washes in the wintertime

Does anyone here do conditioner washes during the wintertime? If so what is your regimen?

Thanks
Bridgette

I started cowashing in March so I need tips for the winter also. I was going to just cowash at night every other day, but if someone knows something better please help.

Hello ladies,

I CW in the winter, but I use my hooded dryer more often during these months because my hair seems to be dryer in the winter more thn anytime of the yeat. I use the hooded dryer for deeper conditioning about twice per week.

I CW everyday with any Suave, VO5, conditioners etc and a deep condition my hair afterwards with honey mixed with EVOO or Grapeseed Oil. :)

Every two weeks I deep condition with LeKeir under the dryer for one hour.

Once a month I do an ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) rinse.

I just recently started co washing as well. I'll be watching for tips.

I will be CWing during the winter months but probably not as much as in the summer. Somewhere around 2-3 times a week after I am about 6 weeks post relaxer when my new growth decides to get an attitude. hehe

My main focus will be making sure to do a deep conditioning treatments with heat (1hr) every 4-5 days due to the change in the weather. My hair will hair will need every bit of it. Moisture moisture moisture is the key!

This coming winter will also be my first with con washes. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I would wash at night but I can't stand sleeping with wet hair and it wouldn't be dry by the morning anyway.
Plus, it's not like I'm going to be outside all day when it's snowing. Maybe if I just figure out a good way to keep my head covered, like lining winter hats with satin or something, I'll be alright. We'll see when the time comes...

Never thought of it that way, good point, extra moisture in the winter months might help alot.
Air drying or using some heat because it's cold but that would defeat the purpose no?

Great topic, I actually asked this question earlier today in another thread. I am also curious to know, because my hair takes forever to dry. I think I will have to stick to once a week (on the weekends). I usually wear wash and go styles, and I don't like diffusers, because it makes my hair puff up really big.

yeah just rub it in

I know, right...:p We have what I consider to be Indian Summers which make cold weather not last too long. It really doesn't get cold until late October/beginning of Nov.

I began CO washing off and on in January of this year. Here in SC, its not REALLY cold until December/January. It usually snows or there is an ice storm in January.

I will be CO washing this winter too. ETA: I CO wash in the evenings, because I have more time to detangle my hair than if I did so in the morning before work. Therefore, when the winter hits, my hair will be mostly dry by the morning.

I live in New England. I co washed or rinsed my hair 2-3 times a week, sometimes as much as every other day. I just did it at night. My hair was semi dry in the morning. I was on the bun challenge so I just threw on a hat and that was it. I'm a strong believer in protecting my hair from this brutal NE cold. I kept my head covered when I went out so my semi damp hair was never an issue.

That's pretty much my routine as well. The past few winters have been harsh, but I just covered my head outside. In between each CO wash, I spritzed my hair with Surge 14 at night and saturated the ends with EVOO, then pulled my hair into a bun. I then covered my hair with a shower cap and either wore a knit cap or cotton scarf or wore a heat cap for 30 minutes for a moisture boost.

This winter, I'm trading in my EVOO for Salerm Wheat Germ Mask.

Last winter I cond washed every other day. I did mine at night and flat twisted it and took them out in the morning. I my hair was 95% by then.

I don't have to be outside in the morning much this coming winter. But I've really never had a problem going outside in the cold with wet hair. I did it for years. Sometimes I wear a hat. If it's bitter cold, I will cowash at night and just spray in the morning and put back in a ponytail. I hate the cold no matter if my hair is wet, dry or whatever. I do my best to stay out of it as much as possible. My bigger worry is how HOT it gets in our apartment from the radiators, which we cannot control. Sometimes my husband comes home from work and says it is like a sauna in here. While I like being warm, that can't be good for my hair.

Anky you don't have to gloat cause you don't have a winter season. LOL

I CO wash about the amount as I do in the summer. The only difference is that when I tie it down to make it stay flat I sit under the dryer for about 30 minutes on low heat. Most of it is dry by morning. The length is still a little damp.

Same here Cichelle. My apartment get sooo HOT in the winter. I have to keep all the windows in my apartment open just so I can breathe  (funny...but true). Any one have any tips for winter care for hair inside of sauna apartments? Should we co-wash more because of the heat in our homes?

Last winter was my first winter where I CO'd everyday. I never got sick either, and I too live in New England where winter weather is no joke! I just co washed, slapped on my turbie twist so my hair could dry a little as I got dressed and ate breakfast, then detangled, moisturized and styled my hair. I always had my hair covered when going outside, usually just wrapping a satin scarf around my head if not wearing a hat or hood of my coat.
