From what I can see, based on my own supply of conditioners, conditioning rinses are applied to the hair and immediately rinsed out after working through the hair from root to tip. Conditioners are applied and left to sit anywhere from 2-20 minutes, depending upon directions, and then rinsed out. HTH.
I think that cond. rinses probably just smooth the hair down and ease detangling while conditioners do a lot more, you know, moisturize, strengthen, etc. Maybe someone else has more input. I am no expert.
