condition before the salon

im going to the dominican salon tomorrow. but right now i have small and tangled straw curls in my hair. they are always gentle but i still dont trust them with these litle curls.
so i plan on slathering my hair with conditioner and detangling the curls with a wide tooth comb right before i go to the salon.
i already called and told them i would be doing this but i've never done it before.

would you do this or put your trust in them?

Yes I would do it myself because they dont care about your hair as much as you do. You will be gental with your hair but they will rake the comb or brush though your hair like it's nobody's bussiness. Maybe they would do it nicely but They have other ppl hair to do too. They dont have time for that.:lachen:

my thoughts exactly. when you mentioned them raking the comb, i literally got shivers up and down my spine:nono:

its funny you posted this, because I have been thinking about washing and DC'ing my hair at home then go to the salon for a rollerset...not to save money or time, but to save my hair from sometimes rough/heavy handed, "super" busy (inundated with customers) stylists:rolleyes::look:

last time I went to the salon to get my hair trimmed, I made sure I co-washed and DCed that week. I came in with air dryed hair. I don't mind doing some of the work myself cuz I know how i like things to turn out.

I've always wanted to do this. But I don't want to look cheap or anything :look:.. I personally like to wash and deep condition my own hair, but I'd like to go to let them rollerset me and blow out my roots. They just don't take the time to condition my hair properly like I would do so myself.

I have never done it, but I have witnessed ladies coming into the salon already shampooed and arrive with a head full of conditioner and a plastic cap.
I say go for it.

That would be very wise!!!!

I am going to the salon today and I thought about doing a co-wash last night just to prep my hair for the blow dryer. Lawdy I should have done it. I was thinking just like the rest of the ladies who have posted. They won't be as gentle nor will they condition they way I like and need my hair to be conditioned. Next time I won't be so lazy:yawn:

I used to do this all the time and I've even had my stylist recommend it. I would wash and detangle in the shower and keep the conditioner on my head until I got to the salon. All my stylist would have to do was rinse out the condish, rollerset and then blow out. It saves me time and its also cheaper and no one will be as gentle on my hair as I am. Another alternative that my stylist recommended was to wash and rollerset at home and just come over for a blow out. All she has to do is give me that "finished" salon look, and I do the rest. Again, it saves you the time and money and you are able to give the TLC your hair needs...
