Thank God for my hair buddy, her digital camera and my progress shirt! If it weren't for these things and my new album (thanks cuz!) then I wouldn't even know I have progress!! The ends aren't even and they aren't nearly as thick as I would like, BUT.....my hair is GROWING!!! This is the first time that I can remember seeing growth since being on hair boards (three years) or even prior when I was going to the shop to have a 'professional' do my hair every two weeks (two years).

MsPortugal said I'm about 4-5" away from bra strap. She is as well, but hers is a LOT more even with gorgeous thick ends! So, I think I am going to join the 2006 bra strap challenge and then that way I should have all of my hair that length, not just the nape! I'm excited and am at least starting to retain some length. I am feeling more confident about my regimen and I finally BELIEVE that I can really grow my hair to great lengths. (Did I say that out loud?!) Of course I hoped it would happen, but understandably, after years of no chemicals and doing what I thought was right, the Puritan's Biotin not working on me while working on everyone else who even thought about taking it, and all of the other raves that don't work on my head, I was truly beginning to doubt my chances. No longer though. So, if you too are struggling, please know that if you keep trying and make note of your mistakes to avoid them in the future, you will eventually stumble on to something that works. Hopefully a lot sooner than I did, but nevertheless it WILL happen!!

Please check it out!

i am happy that your hair is coming along, nubianq... you and ms portugal look beautiful in that pic...... /images/graemlins/up.gif

I can definitely see the progress. Your hair is growing nicely. Keep it up girl. /images/graemlins/up.gif

Keep it growing girl! /images/graemlins/weird.gif You're making nice progress. I like the latest style also. "Weaveitup" did a nice job.

Weaveitup, did it up with your hair, I think I need to pay her a visit one day, so she can do mine, looks good...and what's up with the nioxin....

Like I stated in your album...your hair is definitely growing!!! Keep up whatever you are doing because it's helping. My ends looked exactly like yours a few months ago (after relaxing) and I began to take extra care of my hair like you are doing and it thickened up! You're going to have one thick & full head of hair! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wow! Thank you all so much for the wonderful words! I must go to dinner now with some friends, but I will be back to answer a couple of questions from this thread!

I'm late but your hair is looking healthier and longer by the day. /images/graemlins/clap.gif

Whatever your doing is working! I believe that you'll be able to reach your goal. That measuring T-shirt you're wearing is a great idea.

What's your regime ????

Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to respond to the questions.

@Cute/Oglorious-
I started the Nioxin Bionutrient Actives Cleanser/Therapy and Follicle Booster on August 25. I was already experiencing flakes from the Surge, but these were FLAKES (as seen in my album)! Good gravy, they are so huge that I have to mentally prepare myself just to deal with them! MsPortugal (bless her heart) has a very strong constitution, but sometimes those really big ones even give her the willies!! She ended up calling the company to see if this was normal and the guy very nonchalantly said yea. Like everyone knows your entire scalp peels like a snake (not really since the hair follicles prevent peeling uniformly) over and over. However, he said it should stop in a few weeks. I am not too overly concerned that two months later it has not ceased because the instructions call for daily use and I have washed my hair four times since I started this line.

I'm hoping that eventually my scalp will get to a point where it no longer has buildup and stops flaking. Then it should be a healthy growing ground for my beautiful locks! I can already see the difference in color, it isn't as brown, has a slight pink hue to it and I have read that is a healthy sign.

@Lovely -

Thanks so much for your posts! A few months ago, eh?! I'm encouraged! I will be so excited when I get to post a pic that has even and thick ends! I am glad you told me that yours evened out because I just chose not to bother with it unless it had splits. Now knowing it might just even all out, makes my decision that much better! Believe me, seeing my album, I did have thoughts of chopping it off to be even and now you have helped me to release those type of thoughts!

@Blue -

Thanks!! Isn't it though?! Without it, I would still be singing the blues about my hair not growing just because it isn't (yet) touching my bra! I love that shirt and keep it in a special place. Now I can see my progress and stop wondering if it is growing or not!

@Black -

MY hair, gorgeous?! Thanks so very much! I feel I am on my way there and one day will deserve such high praise!!

Routine:

Cornrows
Wash bi-weekly with the entire Nioxin Bionutrient line w/follicle booster (may change if the flakes never cease)
Diluted CO washes on opposing weeks
ACV rinses (ALWAYS and forever!)
Surge twice a day
Sta Sof Fro
Capilong phase one then two nightly once it arrives
Virgin Hair Fertilizer (to seal in all of this moisture)
Plastic Cap after applying my moisture mix
Scalp massages
Higher protein intake
Vitamins for hair and enzymes
Minimal heat (mainly just for progress shirt)
Trim splits with an even up cut when my right side reaches my goal

Thank you all for the nice comments and visiting my album!!

OOOHH you stole my style!! I have cornrows in the front and weave in the back JUST LIKE THAT... My design is a little different, but in essence it the same! cute!

Stole?! lol!! Uh huh, cuz YOU have an album that I was coveting, right?!! Anyway, the first time I had it done, the girl cut out the combs and sewed (VERY poorly) it on, but now I keep the combs on so I can take it off when I get home to better care for my cornrows underneath! It also preserves the 'other' hair for a lot longer!

Like I said in my album, I'm rocking this do until I'm 40 (if MsPortugal and Weaveitup let me)!! Like you said, it's cute!

/images/graemlins/clap.gif Ur making some really nice progress! Keep up the good work /images/graemlins/clap.gif
