I created this thread just to vent & for anyone else who wanted to vent about their hair. It's not that serious. BTW, I got a haircut, and am pretty pleased with how much thicker the ends look. I've come to the conclusion that my medication is probably the cause of the hair problems.
I'm glad you're feeling better Ipanema!
I was having my own pity party offline when I first decided to stop using heat on my hair. I had some disastrous grandma looking hair.
Then I had some old school little girl on Easter Sunday hair that wouldn't move even if a tornado had hit it.
We all have times when our hair just isn't doing what we want it to do for one reason or another.
That's what's great about this board. Thanks to Tracy, I found an easy way to wear my hair without heat with a cute style. It doesn't get any better than that!
How much longer do you have to take your medication? Various prescriptions can wreck havoc on your hair temporarily. I'm sure things will get back to normal once your medicine stops.
Enjoy your party while you need it!
@Tai, I've already stopped the medication, so I guess it's just a matter of waiting for my hair to get back to normal & going back to my old routine (plus Surge) since my hair is shorter now.
What kind of meds were you taking Ipanema? if you dont mind me asking? if so i understand, was just wondering about that. anyway im glad it was a med you could stop and your feeling better now

As for my hair, the dawg gone "beautician" who braided up my hair (in a cute style I might add) wasn't gentle when she combed my hair and ripped out a few inches in some sections.
I felt her going it at it, but figured it was okay ... not so, girlfriend was TOO heavy handed cause when I took it down, I could see the drastic damage she'd done. I'm so mad/sad, I can't even go off on anyone but myself. I should've just done some simple two strand twists myself.
I'm wearing one big braid or a bun until it starts to grow out more.
I've made a vow to never, EVER trust another
hair stylist/braider with my precious strands again.
[/ QUOTE ] oh my, when did this happen??? this is exactly why i was determined to learn to braid myself girl. your hair still looks great, cant tell there has been any problem and will recover in no time
what kind of braids were they?

It was a cornrow/two strand twist style all created with my own hair. You can view the pics in my http://public.fotki.com/SunshineCoils/ album under "Graduation" the password is englishdegree (all as one word).
But yeah, she took out some plugs of hair.
Maybe I'm over-reacting ... maybe it was mostly shed hair (I tend to comb my hair REAL gently), who knows. I've been so depresed about it, I didn't even wanna bother with posting about it in my hair group.
I've just been quietly sulking.
I can't get the parts right (ESPECIALLY in the back) to braid hair myself, but unless I'm at a natural gathering with other natural ladies who understand the wants/needs of natural hair, I'll NEVER be getting my hair "done" again, unless it's by me.
Deeplyrooted, I just looked at your graduation pictures, and the style was really nice. Like you, I don't trust stylists anymore. For making your own parts, all you need is a good rattail comb, some duckbill clips, a couple of mirrors. It just takes practice.

Yes girl, something told me to turn around and look at the comb she was using to comb my hair toward the end of the process.
There were about 4 or 5 balls/chunks of hair in the comb.
When I comb my hair, I might have one chunk of hair that comes out due to normal shedding *I usually only comb once a week*, that comb was full the whole length down of about 1/2 an inch of hair. I must've turned red or sumthin for a few minutes. I swear I nearly passed out.
But dang, if your hair can withstand all that, and STILL look beautiful like it does now, my hair should be able to make it through this. I'm just really babying it right now and using bunches of oils and butters to get it back on track.
Thanks for the compliments. I can tell you give your baby girl lots of positive reinforcement, you're like a hair care cheerleader.
But yeah, we'll be two little old ladies refusing to go to salons. I don't care if I have arthritis, high blood pressure, cholesterol, AND diabetes, ain't nobody layin' a hand on deeplyrooted's hair.

I will join, My hair is not the same any more, it used too be thick, very thick, for some reason it still is in a way, but my hair strands are not the same, they are thinner, my old strands were about 3 times what they are now, its like ppl with type 1, very thin, its silky, but I feel like at any moment all my hair will just start breaking off, and If I was not doing the no heat challenge, I try too use a pressing comb I would have no hair, my hair is in twist, and my head is flat, it used too be very full, now I feel like am going blad, even though am not, just thin strands, I was in the shower, doing my daily wetting and braiding up my hair, and I could hear some strands just snaping
, I know it must be from too much DC, weting my hair add conditioner, puting on a cap and washing it out in the morning, and Also sparying my hair, apply some oil and a cap and leaving on for how ever long , I have thought about cutting it off, but I will deal with it, and try too make it stronger, its pretty strong but thin,am hoping wheat grem will help, my hair has no volume,
