Comb Coils or Finger Coils?

If you've done these, what do you use on your hair as you make the coils to make them stay coiled up without it being hard, but soft to the touch?

I never use gel or anything like that... I usually do my finger coils with condish (suave humectant) as a leave in and that's it... but sumtimes I use pantene HC mousse... this method leaves my hair really soft and shiny!... check out my fotki... I don't really feel like you need anything to hold coils
