If you want to use a permanent color, I'd recommend Clairol Textures and Tones... (Less damaging because it has no ammonia)...they have a few red shades... like Red Hot Red

, Cherrywood
cherrywood_4rc.jpg
, and Ruby Rage

. GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks Kaddy for bumping

Thanks Lindy
:yep: I thought it looked more red I chick at the solon told me she would put a blond color in my hair and it would turn out the same color :ohwell: that B!tch!!!!

You're welcome!! :) If I were you, I'd go with the Ruby Rage... even though it looks light on the swatch, remember that if your hair is dark, it will not come out that light on your hair... (And do a strand test if possible before you go ahead and do your whole head!!) ;)

:lachen: OK I really burst out laughing at that.

Those colors look great that Lindy posted. The pic you posted looks like a mix of colors. I too am thinking about getting color and was thinking about the tri-color technique my old hairdresser told me about. It like 3 different colors (gradual shades of similar colors) for a pretty effect. I am really thinking about it. :)

Hey IPM--you're natural, right? My experience with semi-permanent colors--they don't lighten hair very well--especially natural or texturized hair because I guess the cuticle is not so "open" as relaxed hair. The woman at the salon was telling you the truth--to get my auburn color--I've used permanent colors in Honey Blond or Honey Bronze (another blondish shade). It lifts dark hair to a more reddish color. I would think that after she lifted your hair--to get that electric red color, you have simply put a red rinse over it. I've done that with my hair when I needed a change. ;)
