Emu oil absorbs deeply into the skin without clogging pores. It's the only oil I can put directly on my scalp with no itching or dandruff. I use it on my face too with no breakouts - and my sensitive skin will break out if you look at me the wrong way.I heard that oils can clog the scalp making dry scalp worse. Is that true?
my eczema is starting to flare up and I am giving myself and oil treatment prepoo right now.My twists have been bone dry and I had an increase in breakage. I read this thread and did an impromptu co-wash and then deep condition. My hair feels like butter! I must have been underestimating the effects this cold winter air has on my hair and skin. Thanks for the thread and responses.
Have you tried to mix a little tea tree essential oil mixed with jojoba oil and apply directly to your scalp? The jojoba oil is similar to sebum (the natural oil your scalp produces) so it should soak right in. The tee tree should help with the itching when mixed with a carrier oil. Hth
What about almond oil? I used a mixture of almond, tea tree and peppermint oils applied directly to my scalp and it worked like a CHARM. I'm talking about I went almost 2 weeks without shampooing or cowashing without a flake. Now it seems to not be working anymore. My scalp is out of control. It's getting embarassing. If I don't oil it every single day, it will start flaking. I oiled it last night and when I part my hair it does look dry and it itches, but it's not flaking at least. Still...I need some suggestions. Im going to find a dermatologist but I don't want to use prescription dandruff shampoo bc it's been rough on my hair in the past.
