If you've got flakes you're using too much.
Also, make sure you are using a top quality oil. Something from the grocery store, not from the BSS.

^^^ same here... i've never had an issue with evco... but most times its mixed with other oils, but i do use straight evco on a regular basis and its never done that to me

yes, it has happened to me. But I think it's because the oil wasn't extra virgin coconut oil. It was just coconut oil that I found in an Indian store and I also tend to be heavy handed. I started using the Nutivia extra virgin coconut oil a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I love it.

well i thought when it solidifies in your hair that'll happen so wouldn't it be in the winter or late autumn?

Hi,
When I use the product in both mines and my daughter's hair, I poured into a water bottle with a little bit of water & spritzed it into my hair.
I've never had any issues with it solidifying back into a solid nor have I had any flakes. When I bought the coconut oil 3 weeks ago, it was solid. But by the time I'd gotten home, it was a liquid due to all the heat & has never solidified back. I can see a tiny bit at the very bottom of my jar now tho.
Hope this helps.

It only happens when its really cold, like when you are outside. Once inside iIt melts again almost instantly from the heat of your head.

I actually use solidification to my advantage. In the DC area when its cold it tends to be windy. I use a little extra oil so that I know if I am outside it will solidify and hold my hair in place. My hair stays in place and I know its protected in a little oil cocoon. But even with that I still don't experience flaking. The OP probably just needs a better grade of oil.

I use Spectrum virgin coconut oil. Never had that problem unless it was late fall or winter. Use a good quality oil.
