May I ask, as far as hair is concerned, what is the difference between the organic coconut oil found at most health food stores and say the coconut oil I find at Super Walmart in the cooking oil area? I think the brand I find at Walmart is called Lou Ann. This particular brand only list coconut oil as the ingredient and nothing else. The health store brand ranges in price from $8.00- @ 20.00. The Lou Ann brand cost under $3.00.

Chime in Babygurl and LisaJames96 (both NC ladies). Babygurl, I know you use the organic version and Lisa, I know that you use the Lou Ann brand. Do they work the same? Both of you ladies have expressed how you really love how it does on your hair.

All other ladies are definitely welcome to respond because I really want to know.

Thanks in Advance!

I've used the refined supermarket kind and the refined health food store kind and there was no difference for me. both work well. if the ingredients of both kinds are pure coconut oil then i'd buy the cheaper kind.

i got a gallon of 76 degree coconut oil from www.thechemistrystore.com for $10.50 plus shipping and handling. It's great and i like alot- i went to walmart to get the louann brand but they only had the peanut oil so -but anywho i am very pleased with my purchase. Hope this helps a little

Oils are based on grade on how it was processed with heat in measurments of degress such as 70 degrees, 80 etc. Health food stores may have better quality but it really depends on the brand. Sometimes you have to do research on the brand or company to see what type of things they produce. The quality of oil from each orginaly state will determine how good it is. :)

HEy czyfaith77,
I haven't purchased the Lou Anna brand yet, because I haven't ran out of the coconut oil I got from puritan's pride. I would agree that there probably isn't much difference. Maybe the smell depending on how much heat was used in the Lou Anna brand. But for $2.67/32 oz(walmart in Fuquay Varina), I would at least try it before I pay $5 plus shipping to order it off line. Let me know how it works out. I still have a 1lb at home so I wont be buying anymore for a while. HTH
