Alright, so I've heard good things about coconut oil...now I'm hearing even better things about coconut milk.

Does anyone out there use it? The websites that I've been to talk about making it. I was thinking about buying some (people do use it for cooking). How do ya'll feel about that?

Oh, and here's a link to start your personal web-searching on this topic:

yep...that girl, krys, again...replying to her own post again.

anyway...i've noticed that the prices for coconut milk are not expensive online (about 2 bucks). i figured that i could go to a local Fiesta or this Asian market that's in the neighborhood.

i figure the worst that could be in the milk is extra preservatives...but we put enzymes in our hair all the time.

come on ya'll...:)

I love Thai food and they use coconut milk quite a bit. I've been thinking about trying the coconut milk too as a rinse or an all day conditioner. I've known pacific-asian women who use the fresh milk to wash their hair. I don't have the energy to make it myself but I know it's available at any large chain grocery store for $2 or less for 6-8oz. If you try it be sure to keep us posted with your results. I think I'll put it on my grocery list for this weekend.

Thank you for the link!! The site has a lot of amazing information! I recently started taking lecithin supplement "just because" and wanted to stop 'cause it tasted funny but now I know its benefits outweigh my concerns about its wierd taste I'm sticking to it...thanks again luv'!!
back to the topic:
I use coconut milk in my hair about once a weekcause I think it strengthens my hair (ie as a cheap AND weak protein treatment-my hair can't take more protein than that) I blend it with some olive oil, leave it on till the hair is relatively dry (usually overnight)then rinse it off again and deep condition

I've used it as a pre-poo treatment before. Not recently, though... It made my hair feel very soft--before conditioning. I like the Goya and Thai Kitchen brands. I've seen both at Kroger and Super Wal-Mart in the Asian/Mexican aisle. The ingredients are just coconut milk and some kind of preservative.
