Ok, so Im trying to use one...Is there one without the harmful sulfates, has anyone used Aubreys swimmers? How often should I do this, Ladies can I please have the 411 on clarifying because lately ive noticed my staple productshavent been working as well.

Thanxs before hand!

Hi Foxycus,
I haven't used Aubrey's swimmers but I have used the Clarifying Therapeutic Lemon Verbena shampoo by Avalon Organic Botanical. It has no Sodium Lauryl or Laureth Sulfates. Avalon

Here are the ingredients I copied from Avalon's website:

Lemon Verbena Organic Shampoo
Ingredients: Certified organic lemon verbena and lavender hydrosols (lippia citriodora and lavandula officinalis), certified organic extracts of calendula (calendula officinalis), echinacea (echinacea purpurea), lemon balm (melissa officinalis) and sage (salvia officinalis), organic sea kelp extract (laminaria digitata), sodium cocoyl glutamate, cocamidopropyl betaine, certified organic aloe barbadensis, panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), niacin, inositol and calcium pantothenate (vitamin B complex), soy protein (glycine soja), vegetable glycerin, citric acid, methyl/propylparaben, and pure essential oils.

I've also used Pantene clarifying shampoo, which contains Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. It's pretty harsh on my hair -let's just say my hair gets that stripped feeling- but it gets the job done. I prefer Avalon.

I'm sure the other LHCF members will come up with some good suggestions for you to try out too.

Edited to add: I forgot to answer the other part of your question - I clarify at least once a month (twice a month would be really pushing it for me) with clarifying shampoo.

BBBUMMMMPPPP!!!

ladies I NEED More Insight, I dont wanna use a shampoo that'll leave my hair stripped
(LOL)

What does clarifying conditioner do? Can it be a good substiture for clarifing shampoo for those of use who have been doing primarily conditioning washes?

Foxycus02, it all depends on how often you wash and style your hair. Also, if u want to elminate that stripped feeling, u should do a hot oil treatment or pre-condition your hair before shampooing

I've never used Aubrey's, but I currently use Nexxus Aloe Rid, which is also excellent to use after swimming and it works for my hair.

I clarify, once every 3 weeks.

Kenra Clarifying and L'Anza Deep Cleansing Shampoo are both very very good. Both use gentle cleansing agents. I prefer the L'Anza, but both do a good job of clarifying without stripping. I have to use more of the Kenra to get my hair clarified, whereas the L'Anza is more concentrated and only takes a small amount to clean the hair.

OH Shoot,

Kenra has a clarifying 'poo???????? Oh shoot...

Okay, now to answer the question--your hair will most likely feel stripped after clarifying, but that's kind of the point, ya know. Good luck

I use Aubrey's Swimmers as a clarifying Poo. Ive never used the Swimmers condit. It works well for me. I poo once w/ this then once w/ CON, rinse w/ Nexxus ensure, and then deep condition. I get great results this way. I do this once a week because Im heavy-handed w/ the moisturizers and oil during the week. By shampoo day, my hair feels coated and the first wash doesnt even lather. So my hair never feels stripped. HTH

I use Aveda's clarifying shampoo, it has ALS, but I don't find it too harsh, I only clarify before protein conditioning (about once a month).

I forgot...Ive also used DAX Vegetable Oil poo that someone on this board recommended for clarifying. Good results.
