i've been using this Chromium Picolinate the last month as a supplement to weight loss. i had been told that it was just helpful for that. didnt even know exactly what it was supposed to be doing just that it was a good supplement for energy while working out (my dumb ass never researched this information for myself) and i always research every little thing. anyway, my hair has been shedding lately (not breakage) just long strands with the bulb attached at the end of the hair. well i finally looked this crap up on the internet and there are people that say this Chromium Picolinate has caused them to have severe shedding. one lady said that her doctor told her that she see's about 15 patients a month about this

i'm so pissed with myself right now. in addition to the shedding, my hair has been VERY dry. ( i mentioned the dryness in another post before finding this out) so now i'm just gonna assume that this EXTREME sudden dryness in my hair has to do with this damn stuff. god, i'm so upset with myself right now. i dont take any other vitamins and i'm afraid to now because the regular multivitamin i bought for energy(but never started) also contains chromium picolinate. anyway now i'm just in need of advice on how to get my hair in some kind of condition that isnt "straw like" i'm not gonna worry about the shedding for now because the chromium is in my body and i'm assuming the shedding will stop once it's outta my system, but i need lots of help with getting my hair moisturized again. i use queen helene for my deep conditioning and CON for my washes (i'm trying to stay away from conditioning washes) but would be interested in a good deep conditioning for getting my hair back in shape. my queen helene is good for maintaining but i need something to get my hair back to a level of being "normal" again. thanks --jainygirl

I would suggest trying the Kenra moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. It does an amazing job of providing my hair with moisture. Also, after you've applied your leave in, put some profectiv breakfree throughout your hair and put it into a wet bun. Get some Sta-Sof-Fro or your own mixture and spray your hair everymorning and night (good enough to make it wet). Of course you have to keep your hair in a bun soing this method. I promise you, you will combat the dryness and your hair's elasticity wil return. Good luck.

I would follow Armyqt's suggestion and invest some extra cash on a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. CON might be your culprit, because the coating is so harsh it wouldnt allow conditioners to penetrate and bring moisture to the strands. I know it dried my hair out and Queen Helene, umm some people swear by it but my results werent good at all. I would recommend Loreal's nature therapy mega moisture nourishing shampoo & conditioner, if your on a low budget, 10 en 1 conditioner is also great and cheap. Try purchasing St Ives hot oil until your hair reaches normal moisture levels. Theyre like 3 for $3 or $4 but work great.

Also realize that there are other forms of chromium, too. What you posted is really amazing because it's not a rumor any longer. One of the earliest warnings about chromium picolinate was a possible link to cancer. That was from a study done at the University of Mississippi back in 1999.

You might try taking a supplement of EFAs (essential fatty acids) to rid your hair of the dryness fast.

I am so sorry that this happened to you.
