I scheduled an appointment for me to get my hair done at Chop Shop on my campus I have a few questions. I origionally wanted to get what i call a wash and set (doobie, rollerset not surre of the many names for it) but i wanted a wash, deep condition, rollerset, and my roots blown out and the stylist told me
1. the rollerset will be an extra $15 because its "more work"
2. the rollerset process will "damage my hair because it causes unnecessary stress"
3. she said my hair is healthy enough for the unnecessary step "roller set" and that I can get what they call a "wash and curl or something like that" and they wash, condition, blow dry and style. I am not sure about my hair being blown from wet.

I was wondering if I can bring my own products, but I know they'll be offended(I usually do my hair myself but I want to look special for an event on friday ) I was also thinking about going with a plastic cap of conditioner on my head that way I wont be too scared about the blow drying process. It is mmy first time there so I'm nervous, please let me know what you ladies would do

Thank you

they are crazy. a wash and curl means they will blow dry your hair from wet and then proceed to press and curl your hair. i used to get this every two weeks. its very damadging. a rollerset is only bad if you pull the hair so tight around the roller that it doesnt have the space to shrink when it dries. if they tell you a rollerset is bad it may be because they(the stylist) are causing the problems. i myself would not trust them after that.

and another thing is if you get a wash and press and curl, if you was your hair more than once a week then there is no point in getting this done

personally, i wouldn't go at all because of the "more work" comment.

she probably meant that she didn't want to waste the extra time necessary to sit you under the dryer, and comb your hair after setting. she's trying to take the easy way out by suggesting a blow dry and curl.

also the fact that it's called "chop shop" is a bit scary in itself :nono:

but it shouldn't be a problem if you bring your own products. several people here go to stylists with their own shampoos / conditioners, and some even come with deep conditioner on their hair, and all they ask for is a rinse out and a rollerset!

if she has a problem with you bringing your own stuff, then i think it would be a good idea to find someone else to do your hair.

I agree with all of the above plus - a place called the Chop Shop would not make me feel confident about their skills, overall.

LOL thank you all, I knew I could count on you ladies to help my decision. I am going to see if I can find somewhere else to go, with deep conditioner in my hair
