(Hi guys, I posted this in another thread below, but I decided to created an individual thread because I really need some support/advice)

It's been just about three weeks since I had my touch up and I've been pretty much following a routine, wear hair out for a week, baggy for two weeks, until this morning...

I sprayed slightly diluted bleach in my hair ya'll :cry2: . I'm trying to not worry about it but I'm dying  . I immediately washed my hair with CON and conditioned for 30 minutes with Humecto. But I don't if that minute or two was enough to cause permanent damage  .

It's the stupidest thing really, I had an extra spray bottle similar to the ones I use to spray my little mixtures in my hair. So one day I decide to use it to keep diluted chlorox bleach in -- very handy when cleaning the bathroom and stuff. I knew something like this could happen so I wrapped brown tap around it so I could differentiate it from the other two, however this morning after using it to clean some surfaces I had to smooth my bun. So I distractedly began spritzing and rubbing into my hair with what I though was my rosemary water (water with a few drops of rosemary essential oil) only to smell bleach. At first I was confused then I looked at the bottle and freaked. I started wetting my hair under the sink but decided to jump in the shower. I was late for work, but I wasn't leaving that house with bleach in my hair.

It's bad enough that my hair never stopped breaking, this is just the icing on the cake. :ill:

well if it was diluted and only a few sprays i'm sure you will be ok after all you immediately rinsed it and you conditioned it. maybe you will have some dryness for a few days and thats it. let us know how it goes

I'm sorry to hear that this happened, hopefully you counteracted any damage it might have caused, by your quick thinking.

Oh snap! I think there was someone else on the board that had a similar experience but it wasn't with bleach I think. What did you wash your hair with? Did you wash it with something or just rinse it with water? I think you should shampoo your hair and then do an ACV rinse. The pH of Clorox is extremely alkaline (> 12 full strength) but you did say you diluted it. An ACV would help bring it down. This is all can I think of for now. Hold tight for any additional suggestions.

Use something to neutralize it and don't use any heat on it for the next couple of days....Bleach will continue to work of if you don't neutralize it......Ohhh and make sure you moisturize.

Thank you all for replying.

I really think there's truth to the statement that the bleach continues to work if it isn't neutralized. My scalp is beginning to get irritated, burning slightly infact. I had to tell my supervisor what happened and now I'm going home. I'm going to do the ACV rinse and call my doctor.

Thanks again,
mzjones

I just wanted to say how sorry I am this this happened to you. I've come close to doing similar.

I'm also glad that I'm a member here, because there are some women here who really know their stuff. heck, I wouldn't know anything about the proper alkaline level to same my life, let alone my hair :ohwell:

Yikes!!! I am sorry this happened. I would definetly use a neutralizing shampoo. Then I personally would put some good moisturising conditioner in my hair, pull back into some sort of bun and leave it....then wash it out the next day. I hope your scalp feels better.

Try some Wella Regenal. It stops the oxidation process and returns hair to it's proper PH balance. I got a little sample pack from Sally's last week for under $2. Also, I think trying a neutralizing shampoo may also help.

Thanks for your support Everyone,

This is what I did after I got home:

I shampooed with KeraCare Ichy & Dry Scalp Moisturizing Shampoo. I used it because on the bottle is said it can be used as first shampoo for "normalizing" after relaxing with Affirm and rinse

I then conditioner with Kenra moisturizing conditioner (first time using it and it IMMEDIATE slip was unbelievable :D ) and rinse.

Then an AVC rinse (4 tblsp ACV to 32 oz water), leave in for 2 minutes then rinse.

Afterwards I add some vitamin e oil to my scalp and hair, s-curl and humectress (yeah, I use it as a leave in).

I haven't seen any additional breakage, so I'm thinking everything is okay.

(and for all those who noticed that I'm a product junkie with expensive tastes, Ebay baby! I got 3 bottle of 10.1 oz. Kenra moisturizing conditioner for $21.5, including shipping)

I'm happier today, as you may notice. I figure, I did the best I could to rectify the situation and as you LHCF ladies have taught me "it'll grow back"

Bless,
mzjones :)

mzjones, who advised you to spray diluted bleach in your hair? what is bleach suppose to do to your hair? you're a brave/risky one because i would be afraid to spray things like bleach on my hair!
