I have a fourteen mth old and am starting to better care of her hair and mine. She has 3b hair curly hair. What do you guys do/use/hairstyles/products to better care for your childrens hair? What are some good detanglers/conditioners/moisturizers etc. We loving our hair so should our babys right!

aww she's so cute!!! She's a doll. The best thing I could think of was when I had my son he was born with 3a/3bhair and I didn't know any better but I practiced some of the same thing we do now because I felt he was a baby and did not need frequent shampooing and stuff. I would simply wet and apply keri lotion that I would use on his skin on his hair and use a bay brush. I would use a little Kemi oyl for shine and his hair was always soft and silky and pretty.

I suppose the same techniques in moderation will work for our little ones. Like keeping in a bun, instead of baggies and phony ponies I supposed a very well moisturized bun or ponytail will do . Maybe a baggie at night? That's pushing she's still so little. Babies that young don't have to do as much as we do. They don't have damage. they just need care and I'm sure you are already doing a fabulous job of that already!

Great Thread Idea!!! My daughter is 4 years old and since she was a little one I've been using Aveeno to wash her hair, alittle cholesterol to condition, and Nature's Blessings hair pomade. this stuff works really good. Ingredients: Nettle, rosemary, sage, peppermint, thyme, alfalfa, pure virgin olive oil, pure coconut oil, sage oil, rosemary oil, bergamont oil, chlorophyll(from nettle and spinach), pure mineral jelly, natural frangrance and good intentions. A muslim woman told me about Nature's blessing when my daughter was only 1-i've been using it every since and now my daughter has a head full of healthy, shiny hair.

Thanks!!!I try not to shampoo very often and am using conditioner instead. But you know how kids are they get gunk everywere!!Ur right they dont have the damange yet but we must maintain in prevention method. LOL

Any comments on hair products for children welcome!!!!

I use Just for me leaven in condition/detangler and castor oil on my 7 year old. I have Always use castor oil in her hair.

I have a 2 year old and she will be 3 Sept. 21. She has type 4abcdefg hair...her hair gets real dry...when I wash her hair it draws up and if I let it airdry and try to comb later.. I will catch hell trying to comb her hair because it becomes real thick and bushy like.....my fiance family reunion was Aug. 18 and I wanted to do something different with her hair because I did not want her hair to be in little drawed up pony tails...so I thought I will press her hair then I said no because I might get the comb too hot and she will constantly be moving her head....so I thought hey I got these mini maxi glides...let me put them bad boys to the test....because they are suppose to straighten out the coarses and thickest hair and they were just the right size for her little head.soooo....I washed her hair with doo gro shampoo and conditioned with doo gro intensive conditioner then I applied the stimulating growth oil on her hair and let her hair airdry once it dried I used the mini maxi glide on her hair and I was shocked...my baby hair was down her back...I put her hair in bigger ponytails and her hair was drapping yall...I am so happy I found my baby hair regimen because I was getting tired of washing her hair and spending 2 to 3 hours doing it...now it only takes me about 20 minutes...I plan on washing her hair once a week and using the miniglide once a week....I used the miniglide on her hair Aug. 18 and it is still straight...it's kind of drawing up now so I will wash her hair tonite and straighten it tomorrow....it is also more moisturized now and manageable...

I put some conditioner on my 3 year old daughter's hair and put a plastic cap on her head and told her DO NOT take it off...she went to sleep with the cap on her head....my finance said now you got my baby walking around here looking like an old lady:lol: I just said whatever.....

I applaud you ladies with girls. I have two boys and I think about how I want a little girl. But then I read posts and realize that I may be asking for more than I can bargain for. I couldn't imagine taking care of a little girls hair, and mines!!!

Okay, does anyone know how to get waves in little boys hair?

ill pm you with that one twana:)

With my 2 y/o daughter in addition to co-washing her hair I also use the S-curl spray and gel activator....I rarely use poo on either of our heads but when it looks like she has build up (fingers sticky to the touch) then I'll mix a teaspoon of poo with 4 tablespoons of conditioner and that mixture does what I need it to do. She loves wearing the baggy on her head so no problems there. :yep:

Thanks Laydee for the PM. I asked her a question that I wanted to throw out there to everyone:

Have you heard anything about messing up the hair texture when it's cut with clippers?? Both of boys had beautiful curls when I let their hair grow out. But since cutting it with clippers, curls don't really show up anymore. As there anyway to get them back???

I'm the mom of a 5 year old girl with hair that is 3 inches from her waist when stretched, what I do with my daughter's hair is simply wash it every week when possible, I rarely braid her hair, it causes too much tension on young children's hair in my opinion. I keep her hair well moisturized with PCJ pretty n silky cream oil moisturizing lotion, I detangle with olive oil detangler from sof n free n pretty I occasionally put gueye's hair oil on her scalp and I use jam for her edges, I wash her hair with the extend a perm kit from soft n beautiful or garnier fructis, I put no chemicals in her hair and I use heat for special occasions, maybe 2x per year. I don't plan on putting chemicals in her hair anytime soon. HTH

My daughter is 3 years old and her hair is kiiinnkky! I shampoo her hair with Loreal’s kids detangling shampoo and condition with AO white camellia (leave on for 30 minutes) then detangle with my Denman. I use Giovanni Direct leave in conditioner or Sunsilk crème (the purple one). Oil is a mixture of oils that I make. I only put her hair in plaits (no cornrows). Barrettes are only for special occasions. No heat is used whatsoever.

Condition washes are done in between shampoo washes.

I have a similar regimen for my son until he gets his hair cut.
