So I was in a different part of town and needed to get some hair products, so I popped into a black salon to see if they either had any or could tell me where I could find some. The woman pointedly looked at my hair and said "and what are YOU planning to do with your hair?" Her tone was out of order  I pretended I didn't hear and walked away.

Now my hair WAS a total mess  and I was cool with it like that, but why did she think she'd gain a customer by insulting me? I'm not saying that all stylists are like that, far from it but I've come across this kind of stink attitude fromtoo many salons back in the day when my hair was relaxed too, acting like they're gonna do my hair a favour

Sorry that happened to you OP. I don't know what's wrong with these chicks today.

When I was BSL I went to a BBS to get shampoo. The sales girl asked can you even comb that? I said something like "at least I have some hair to comb" and walked out...

Daaaamn Nappystorm told that girl about haself!!:clapping::giggle:

Why is it always the ppl with not much hair to speak of themselves who have comments to make?:nono:

I hope you have a better experience with a Black Owned Business next time around Daughter:yep: because ladies like her make it harder for the good ones, and they got it hard enough.

OP you're a real lady. Lookin a mess or lookin fly ... nobody can dent your confidence. The days of being bullied are definitely over.

Dayummmm...how rude and so forward! I can't imagine she dared go there with, of all people, Daughter of the beautiful mane. I'm actually amused that she imagined herself in a caliber worthy of handling your hair. Good for you for keeping on stepping. What ever happened to good customer service ie good interpersonal skills?

i've had hairdressers look at my hair like wtf!!! lol! when I was still in nyc and would go to the dominican salons before they got to know me, sometimes i'd come in with my hair in a ponytail and it looking wild, they would look at my hair like "oh no can't help her" but once they did my hair and saw how great it was their attitude changed.

it's crazy how if your hair is having a bad day some people in salons will act funny with you even though you have nice hair.

good you left, people are too rude nowadays.

:ohsnap:...... I would have done the same thing!:yep: she outta orda!!!

OP I'm sorry this happened to you, I don't understand it either, this insulting customers thing :nono:

How rude of her as a business woman! She could have had a potential new client, not that you were looking for a stylist. Sometimes I think hair stylist forget they need clients to sustain a business and everyone they meet could be a potential client. *SMH*

WOW. People really need to take it easy when they are talking to clients. I think perhaps they imagine they are showing how talented they are by giving off that "tempermental artist" attitude. Um, no boo-boo.
All that kind of attitude shows is a lack of home training.

Here's my thing. What's the point of going to the salon with your hair totally done? If your hair is messy, as a stylist how can she come out her face when her job is to do hair? She was tactless, maybe she should switch industries.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I have worked in customer service management so I know the deal but shoot there was no way I would have let her anywhere near my hair after speaking to me like that. Thankfully I've been to wonderful salons in the past who knew how to speak to people - this one just wasn't one of them...

She was bang out of order! Must admit I loved your retort though
