Chi Silk Infusion vs Biosilk Therapy

I am currently using the Chi Silk Infusion and I just love it. I know that both products are made by the same company, but what are the differences between the two and which one do you prefer?

I really don't know. Although everybody loves Chi, I didn't care for it. It seem to make my hair break. Now I did purchase from Penny's and I have had nothing but problems with products I get at their salons. I have never purchased Biosilk, but I remember a stylist using it on my hair and it was really light and bouncy. I did try Sally's brand, but I hated it and took it back.

Biosilk Silk Therapy has the bad kind of alcohol (and also parabens, which some people try to avoid). It also only has large silk molecules.

CHI Silk Infusion is the newer, more improved version of the previous Biosilk. It contains no alcohol or parabens and has large, medium, and small silk molecules.

Oh yeah, and Silk Therapy is clear while Silk Infusion is kinda golden in color.

Hey Navs

I knew you were coming. I am assuming the alcohol in this product is drying. Tell me about the size of the silk molecules again. I know you have a thread somewhere but I forgot the name of it.

Some people said that they noticed the Biosilk working great at first, but eventually it dried their hair out over time.

The science of preventing relaxer damage by using silk

Cliff's notes version:

Basically, the smaller the silk molecules are, the better they can penetrate through all the layers of the hair to protect and reconstruct them. The largest silk molecules are only going to coat and reconstruct the cuticle but they do not have a low enough molecular weight to get any farther.

Would someone tell me about the Chi Silk Infusion. Is this a serum used to press/flat iron the hair? Do you apply it to dry hair before pressing it? I purchased Biosilk awhile back and found it to be drying. So I returned it.

Navs need to write a weekly hair colum. But Janeemat, you pretty much got it right as far as usage is concerned. You can use it on dry or wet hair.

You got that right.

I use the CHI occasionally as well. I use HerStyler Serum little more pricey but better for me.

Biosilk and Chi I remember hearing are made by the same company.

Biosilk does have the Alcohol in it and CHI doesn't. CHI helps with my detangling as well and a little goes a long way :)
