Which gives you better results? I'm looking for a new straightening "iron" and I'm torn between the two...

There has been good reviews on the Sedu vs. Chi flat iron. If you do a search you should see.

I voted for Maxiglide. Once I used the maxiglide I gave away my other two flat irons. I love the steam burst. The iron is little big ( i think the plates are 4" wide) but I loved that because I got my hair done in almost half the time.

I use mine on the 3 or 4 setting on air dried hair. I use coconut oil and Ion Heat Protectant for shine and protection. I have used the flat plate and the one with the detangling pins. I got good results with both.

I use and used Chi 1 inch in my avatar...Maxiglide is too large. Chi 1 inch can be use on short or long hair. Maxiglide is good for long hair, but its hard to reach new growth with a bulky Maxiglide(or any large flat iron).

I used my Chi in my avatar pic.

Your hair is gorgeous as well! Thanks for your input. I'm really on the fence about this next purchase.

I didn't vote (since I have only used one flat iron) but the Maxiglide was too big for me to use comfortably. I liked how my hair turned out, and I loved the steam burst, but I couldn't handle the bulky size, and I knew I'd never use it.

I sold it on Ebay (for 5 dollars more than I paid for it!) so if you do decide to try it (and it's too late to return it) you can probably sell it without losing money.

Good luck!

Maxi..Oh How I Love Thee!

I gave up regular flat irons about 3 years ago. They just did not work for me. My hair seemed fuzzy and dull when I used it. And my new growth just laughed at it.

I used my Maxi on 20 week post relaxed hair. And can you say amazing, boys and girls!!!! It got my new growth straight and my hair was not dull or fuzzy. I can run my hands through my hair and it's straight from the new growth to the ends.

The size of the iron was never an issue for me. It seems easier to use then the flat irons I used to use. And I do not have the fear of burning my hair or scalp anymore.

So...my vote is for Maxi.

I second, third and fourth this!

Well, if you decide to buy the Maxiglide then please PM me and I will sell you mine. I got it a month ago and I love it, but I miss my curls. I was using a curling iron weekly and got the Maxiglide because it is healthier, I love the results, but my hair is chin length in the front, not quite to the shoulder in the back so it looks better curled on a big curling iron, so I'm just going to get a ceramic curling iron and will probably buy a Maxiglide in the future when my hair is longer. I've never tried the Chi so I can't comment on it. The size of the Maxiglide wasn't a problem for me.

Ok this is my problem with the CHI.....I have 3a/b hair that I want to be straight but I also want some big loose curling iron curls. Previously I would blowdry and then curl with a curling iron or roll with satin rollers after bd, but I knew that was wayyy too much heat. The CHI is great but it makes my hair flat and straight as a pancake! Where are you planning on buying a ceramic curling iron from? I hear about the flatirons but not the curling irons.

I bought and sold my maxiglide. The conair ceramic flat iron I just bought does the job for me! Cheaper and it satisfied me!

Maxiglide is DEFINATELY better in my opinion, I can now flat iron my hair in only 20 minutes (used to take an hour). The steam burst is to DIE for and it definately gets the new growth despite its bulkiness!! Leaves the hair very soft and silky.

I really like the maxiglide but it's critical that you detangle your hair (especially new growth) because otherwise the teeth will snag and rip hair out. I might try to use my old gold n' hot electric press on roots first and then the maxiglide. I have a sedu, not a chi and it also works well.

I bought the maxiglide from someone on the boards for only $55 incl shipping :) and I know it's big so I want to buy a smaller iron that is similar and can slo curl in addition to flat iron....any suggestions for particular models???

I only have the Maxiglide so I can only comment on that one. I love it.
I agree, with the others to make sure your hair doesn't have tangles in it before you use each section. I have pics in my fotki. I use therma silk heat protectant and it works great for me. I have it on no more than the 4 setting.

I want an iron i can curl with it as well. I ordered the true ceramic pro flat iron from tv. It flatens and you can curl or do sprials. I only had to pay for shipping $15 so I can try it for 30 days.

I bought both. I use the Maxi glide for all-over after my blow dry. ( I have 4b relaxed hair that hits my bra-clasp). It works well for long hair. 15 minutes for me to do my entire head. I bought the CHI on sale from JC Penney. I use it for my new growth and quick touch ups. I like them both!!

I just got my Maxiglide yesterday and I LOVE IT !! It got my hair bone straight without the steam on setting #1! I'm so glad I tried it. My hair is silky soft and shiney like glass! Pressing and flat ironing never left my hair looking like this, ever!!! The Maxiglide has my vote!

I sent my Maxiglide back. I thought it was horrible! I think my hair type is a 4 something  and it just wasn't for me. :)
