check out my new braids! (-pics-)

They are very pretty. I love the ends. I would skip the Infusium and the DCing, but that's just me.

They did a wonderful job with the braids, but I would like to caution you, I would'nt do the dc/or con too often. Especially as long as you want to keep them in. Take it from a person who's done it. I am natural and did my own braids used oils, and infusium and after a month my hair was matted! On top of that it was extremely difficult to unmat! Just be careful not to use too many products cuz I would hate for you to be where I was taking me 4-5 hours just to unmat and that time frame was not including taking the braids out! I would not dc either! Maybe while yr in the shower pour some in yr hands and rub them together and cover with the con that way and make sure you rinse rinse rinse and rinse. Oh, one more thing with you planning on keeping them in that long it's best IMO to try and wash once or maybe even twice a wk. That way you should have no problem with build up!

thanks for this info/input, ladies. i was thinking about DCing because i am in the DCing Challenge. But I do not want to mat up my hair. if i go back to the place where i got my braids done and let them comb out my hair, i'm not so sure that they're going to be very gentle about it since the braider wasn't so gentle about putting them in! the expensive place i used to go to doesn't remove braids put in by others for i guess their own protection.

i have also considered wearing these for a month, taking them out myself, taking a week off, and then buying the hair that i wanted originally and going back and getting them done in a smaller braid. my braids look nice now but she put in waaaaaay too much hair.

the whole reason i got braids to begin with was because i'm going on a trip overseas for 2.5 weeks and i'm scatterbrained and just can't deal with hair right now. the day i get back is the day i start to take them out. lmao.

i will probably not DC... i'll just use my anti-residue shampoo and spritz with my moisture mix as needed. it's half water anyway, so definitely not gunky. and i'm very light handed with the MT, which i am only applying once a week, the night before washing.

They are very pretty.....I'm impressed!!!! This look like a good protective style for me....not too big and not too small....I just don't have the patience for the small ones. :perplexed do you have a shot of the scalp so I can see how big the sections are? what kind of hair did they use?

Again VERY PRETTY!!!!!

here is the scalp shot you requested. sorry it's so close. :) i think my braider did a very good job with the sections. they are very uniform, in a diamond-like pattern. i just wish that the braids around my edges were a bit smaller. but i've adjusted to the weight of the hair. i swear i cut off 2 lbs of hair since i had them done. :)

how gorgeous! i too am in box braids, but they are self-installed and i didn't even think to do the ends like that...i wear them up the majority of the time so i just burned the ends, but i love love LOVE the way yours were done! i am aiming for 8 weeks and i am 3.5 weeks in...i don't think i've ever made it past 4, but that's because i get bored with hairstyles really quickly and feel like they look ratty (although i've been told they don't). i think your regimen is great and i have a similar one, but at this point all i've managed to do is spray them every other day and rinse them in the shower! my first DC is actually tonight.

so you are planning on getting box braids again after this set? what i want to do is wear these for 8 weeks, wear my own hair for a week or two, then go back into either senegalese twists or box braids for another 6-8 weeks. i'm trying to make it to BSL as soon as possible, and i always have great retention in extensions.

hi. :) i can't believe i've only had these in for 3 weeks. it feels like longer. :) to answer your question, i will get box braids again after this set. but probably not until may or june. braids are a great way to retain length. i wore braids for 7 years prior to relaxing over a year ago. they take a toll on the edges... my edges are in good condition now and i guess since being in this board, i know i won't abuse my hair like i did before.

i think my plan will ultimately be to wear braids only in the summer, and take a week off in between installing braids. i'm wearing braids now in the winter because i've been too stressed out to take proper care of my hair, and i'm traveling soon for 2.5 weeks...

I didn't know it was possible to deep condition in braids :O

What do you use, all I have in at the moment is the ORS one.

i haven't DCed yet actually. i thought i might cut that out of my reggie or maybe dc later as my braids loosen and i see more NG? i still spritz every other day and i just washed my hair yesterday morning.

maybe if i dilluted the DC before applying, i would try it... has anyone done it that way?
