Changing behavior/character patterns

What did you do to change these patterns, whether you were getting out of bad relationship, cutting toxic friendships or work environments? Prayer? Positive thinking tapes?
 
I still have a ways to go when it comes to changing things, but I've made great progress by praying, trusting God, spending quality time with myself, writing, going to church, watching online sermons (ex: Joyce Meyers), listening to positive music (and avoiding music that only makes me dwell on the negative situations I'm in). Those are just a few...

And sometimes you just have to go cold turkey (easier said than done tho)
