I was able to find a ceramic straightening iron for a very good price (on a student budget), but the iron will only have one temperature. Is it worth buying with only one temperature? Especially for someone with natural hair? I can't test it for about a month, because I am wearing my hair braided now.

Also, is a ceramic iron really all that much better from a normal flat iron?

My regular flat iron only has one temperature, but its not so hot that it would damage my hair. It smooths out my hair but leaves a reaonable amount of texture.

I personally think that it is. The reason why I say that is that I have thick coarse hair and putting it on one temperature wouldn't cut it and my hair would be so fried looking. But as I learn more and more about my hair and the products that are available on the market, I'm learning to flat iron my hair on a lower temperature and keeping more of my hair. Besides I spotted a ceramic flat iron in Wal-mart made by Conair who also makes Jilbere de Paris for about 14.99. It looks almost like my Jilbere de Paris but with a few modications like wattage and physical attributes.

Re: Ceramic Straightening Iron W/o Only 1 Temperat

When I wore my hair natural I used a ceramic flatiron to straighten my hair and it worked like a charm. In fact I miss the softness that I had before I relaxed my hair. I can get it soft now but it's not quite the same thing.

If you have a Sally's beauty near you i purchase a Jilbere Ceramic flat iron that goes up to 400 degrees. It has at least 10 temperature settings, and it cost $39.99. I its is excellent for the price. The Chi and the Hai irons are way out of my price range but i am very satified with this one and recommend it to anyone.

Oh I didn't read the first post fully. You are asking about a ceramic iron with only one setting and the one I used had many settings. It's the Jilbere ceramic Flatiron--the big one.

I guess its just me but using something with only one temperature setting really scares me.
