Can someone tell me the difference b/c a regular flat iron and a ceramic flat iron

is it supposed to be better for your hair?

any info. is appreciated

thanks /images/graemlins/weird.gif

I THINK the ceramic one is suppose to be better/gentler on the hair. So far, I have used mine twice. Each time my hair style has come out very smooth and silky (which indicates that on the box - so for me it's true). I'm so glad Patrice and ValleyGirl raved about the Jilbere Ceramic Flat Iron (the one inch one). Their rave had me at Sally Beauty Supply store soon after to purchase it. A lot of ladies here have purchased one. So, maybe they'll be able to add on to this thread.

thanks for the info.

you got it at sally's
how much was it
you found it to do a better job than the regular flat irons?

iam thinking of getting one

thanks again

I paid thirty something for it at Sally Beauty Supply. I find it to be much better than the regular flat irons.

Zgirl, When I purchased mine at Sally's I paid 34.99. I like it alot. I've used it 4 times and my hair comes out nice and sleek. The only compliant I have with the 2" iron (still prefer it over the regular) is that it has a small circle with a prong that fits in (to keep the plates from gliding) that can catch onto your hair /images/graemlins/antlers.gif (very annoying /images/graemlins/mad.gif and ultimately damaging) so be careful. If you take small sections of hair it will make this problem easier to avoid.

I have both sizes and love them. My hair looks and feels better. The smaller barrell I use on the roots to straighten, the larger I use for styling and curling my ends under.

Hi Zgirl,

I don't have the flat iron but I do have the ceremic curling iron. Here are the differences I noticed:

Straigher Hair
Shiny Hair
The Hair is not super hot nor is the barrel. It seems like the coating on the iron cuts down the ability for me to scorch my hair.
The temperature doesn't have to be high to get my hair straight.
Takes less time to straighten my hair.
Quickly heats up.

All of these things have definately been an added plus for me because I am natural and have very thick hair.

THE DOWN SIDE.

You can scrape the coating off. So you have to be carful how you place the curling iron down

I like the ceramic iron because it has a heat setting. With regular flat irons, they get too hot, and the temperature doesn't stay even. But with the ceramic flat iron, I can adjust it to the heat I want, without taking a chance knowing that the iron is too hot.
