Ceramic Flat Iron

I straighten my hair every 6-7 months for length checks and trims. Outside of that I'll use a bonnet dryer for super deep conditions every other month.

My flat iron is 5 yrs old and I got it from CVS for like $40.00. It's about run it course and I'm debating getting an new one. I've read all the reviews for the Chi irons but I'm really not trying to spend a $70.00-100.00+ for a frickin flat iron.

Is there really a difference between the cheap irons you can get at Target or Sally's versus the expensive ones??? Wouldn't it be a better idea to have a cheaper flat iron if I'm only going to use it once or twice a year??? Ladies please weigh in, this Libra in me is not making this easy for me LOL.

For me, I go with the more expensive irons because the more protective layers a flat iron has the more protection your hair receives. I use the Sedu Revolution Tourmaline Ionic. The lowest protection is ceramic, then tourmaline then ionic. I don't flat iron much either, but I like the added protection.

I'm a bad one to ask. I have an FHI Runway, and I only straighten 2-3 times a year now. But when I do straighten, I want perfect results every time. I get that with my iron, so it's worth the price tag.

If straightening is not really big apart of your regimen you probably are fine with just getting another $40ish flat iron. Sally GVP Chi knock off start at about 50 bucks. Jilbere flat irons at sally are decent too. I'd usually like to recommend Croc 2 but that is $160 and I use it far more frequently.
