Just curious of who was using this and in what manner. I am currently using it with some water on my new growth and it really seems to be a godsend....in that my ng is manuverable even when dry. I've been experimenting with different things for the ng and this seems not to be as greasy as the scurl on the relaxed hair and softer than the scurl on the new growth.

Yes, I use Castor Oil. I like to mis it in with my deep conditioner or pre-shampoo treatment, it adds so much moisture and allows me to move and work with my hair while it's wet. :)

I mix it with other oils such as jojoba, wheat germ, and avocado and use it daily to moisturize my hair. It definitely does help to keep my hair soft.

Wet hair: throughout entire hair, focus on ends to seal moisture before rollersetting -- a few drops castor plus a few drops serum after my leavein and then rollerset (can't use too much or it takes FOREVER for my hair to dry)

Dry hair: on ends as needed mixed with ylang oil -- awesome moisture and that heavenly ylang fragrance . . .

Nope, that's the same kind I use "food grade" cold pressed castor oil.

I use it in a shea, coconut oil, glycerin, castor oil home made concoction that I apply daily or every other day...

I also sometimes put it on my scalp as is b/c my scalp gets really dry in the winter.

I am planning another shea, coco butter, brazilian nut oil, castor and then some yet to be determined scent for the skin...

I love it!!!

Carmend,

What ratio of glycerin are you using. I've thought about putting the glycerin in my butter oil mixtures, sort of a all in one also.

Vintage, Im kinda still winging it at this point :D But I put about 50% shea then i did about 20% of both glycerin and castor and 10% coconut oil. In the mixture that I made for my daughters hair I put a lil more shea b/c I wanted it to be more solid...

Next time I may add a drop or 2 of jojoba and/or cocoa butter for the hair mixture...

I put mine in a mix with mizani products, shea, coconut oil, aloe, and jojoba oil.

I use Home Health Castor Oil... it's wonderful!

I use it as a pre-poo, mixed with conditioners, as a hot oil treatment, even add it to poo (sometimes). I also use it in my daily moisturize mix (water/oil/cheapie conditioner). I'm sure I'll find other ways to use it :)

I was re-reading some thread about making your hair thicker...someone stated castor oil does that. Have any of you found that to be the case.

I was wondering the same thing. I have felt that it was too heavy and sticky to use in my hair on a daily basis but I would like to start using it more because of what I heard. Also, its one of the oils, or maybe the only oil in the Pantene Intensive Overnight Treatment. So many of these companies use fillers, if this is the many ingredient in that product that works, then I would like to learn how to just use this oil on a regular basis. So far, I have only been able to use it in pre-treatments, otherwise its too heavy for my hair.

I look forward to hearing more from you all about this.

Yes it is very very thick. I initially mixed it with EVOO and Coconut Oil...which I use to pre poo. However I am always trying different stuff so I actually spray distilled water on my NG then the Castor Oil ONLY....then just a smidge for the top and ends. I don't think I would use this so much if I was freshly relaxed I just like what it does for my non relaxed hair.

Yes. I have been using it pretty regularly for the past 6 months or so, and my hair is the thickest it's been in decades.

I think it was a culmination of using castor along with a few other things(Surge and COs).

Oh, I use a spritz of mostly distilled water, a little castor and a capful of Surge oil. My hair loves it..
