I use it for hot oil treatments, usually mixing it with some other oil, like amla, coconut, etc. Some have used it on their ends. My strands are fine and the castor oil is a little too sticky for me to put on my ends or apply to my hair without some other oil to change its consistency. It really makes the hair soft.
Once, I used it alone as a shampoo pre-treatment and I did feel that my hair appeared thicker. Now that I am mixing it with other things, I don't notice this as much. I just notice softness. I don't know how long or exactly how to use it to achieve thicker hair, but supposedly, that is one of the benefits of using it.
