Castor Oil Products for Dryness

While I have the time, I am just going to rattle off as many posts as I can. I might not be able to get around to it for a while again.

I live in Connecticut, so I totally understand all the ladies in the Northeast, dealing with the toll winter weather takes on our hair. It has been especially bad this winter. This is what seems to work for my hair.

I have been having to coat the length of my hair with pure castor oil. I also apply it to my edges and entire hairline. If I need more help for my ends, I use Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil Hair Treatment with Mink Oil. This stuff is great! It is as thick as good old-fashioned "grease," but with no petroleum, and it has a wonderful smell. The only drawback for me is that I don't like mineral oil, and it has some in it, but, it is way down on the list.

I apply it at night, and wrap it or pin it in 4 small, loose pincurls, cover with a satin scullcap, and wrap a scarf around that to keep it put.

The weather is so drying, that I have to apply the castor oil products just about every other night generously.

In the morning, I put my hair up in a loose bun, tuck my ends in, and go on about my day.

I'm with you on this one...strictly by accident, while browsing in the drugstore I came across Bronner Brothers (BB) Castor Oil Hair Lotion. I used this for my last two "airdry" days. It worked fabulously! /images/graemlins/smile.gif I had never used Castor Oil on my hair before, but DANG this stuff is the BOMB! Isn't it? BTW, this hair lotion drys non-greasy and I put a lot of it in my wet hair. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful....

This will probably be my staple when I don't rollerset as long as we are having this ice cold weather.

(But, I am testing out the SCurl tonight since I bought some this weekend--wanted to see what all the hoopla was about.)

Blkmane

Would you be able to post a pic of the castor oil that you are using please? One I have seen in the store are mixed with loads of other crap and the one I have is way too heavy.

Much appreciated.

Blkmane, I'm glad you said that, I just bought some of the B&B lotion while trying to find a decent daily moisturizer, I used it once but not enough to tell how it will work daily..

My husband had some in a jar a creme, but we can't find it anymore.
I had the Motions and did'nt like some of the indreg...

Hey, LD! I just took this photo just for you!

Ingredients: Water, Canola Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Castor Oil, Polyquaternium 32, Polysorbate 80, Aloe Vera Gel, DL Panthenol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methly Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Fragrance and D&C Red #33.

[10,000mg of pure Castor Oil per bottle.]

It has the consistency and color of Pink Oil Lotion but it is a COMPLETELY different product. Your hair will SOAK this stuff up. Will not "sit" on your hair. (But note, I use it on WET hair.)

The smell is a little strong, but not too bad. You might want to give it a whiff before purchasing.

Castor oil is FANTASTIC! I prefer to use Hollywood Beauty version because it has other wonderful ingredients like jojoba oil, etc.

Awww just for me. Blkmane you are too too kind. I'm glad you posted it because I'd be searching high and low for it. Do any of the UK/London ladies know if we have this brand over here. Because I haven't seen it. But it's worth a try.

OMG! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif I have this. The bottle is still practically new. I am sure it is tucked away in the back of my cupboard. I remember trying it on my hair and not liking it, but I tried in on DRY hair. I found it too wet! I am going to pull it out, dust it off and try it with my next air dry.

Thanks for posting the pic.

Now Julia that's a sure sign of PJ'ism right there. You products with dust on it and also forgot that you had them right there. Did you ever see this in the UK?

Julia!

I almost put the scripture you have in my signature. It was hard to choose between the two. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Ive tried the B&B castor oil moisturizer that is posted and I hated it. I put it on dry hair and it made my hair wet and greasy. I dont like oil moisturizers because it has water in it. I prefer pure essential oils as a hairdress.

Mirrormirror what pure essential oils have you used on your hair?

I used to use rosemary on my hair but have since run out.

I've been using castor oil for about 2 to 3 weeks now after searching for a solution to my dry winter hair dilemna. I have to say I LOVE it /images/graemlins/kiss2.gif! It worked exceptionally. I mix the castor oil with my leavin (infusium 23) and apply to my damp hair and roller set. The finished product is a nicely moisturized head of hair that is not greasy. By the way, I picked up pure castor oil.

I've always heard that castor oil is good for your hair but I never gave it a try until recently. I'm glad I did.

Hope this helps.

I use this product also. I tried it on dry hair a while back, and I hated it, but it works great on wet hair, and your hair does soak it up. I tried it on my ends last night while wet setting, and my ends came out fine and my curls didn't come out too heavy. I also like to use 100% castor oil. I ordered a 32 oz bottle from Cedar Vale for $8. If you use this on your scalp or edges, it goes on heavy, but your scalp literally soaks it right up. Castor oil is good stuff. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm with SweetNic and Brownie!

Pure castor oil is excellent for me on WET hair. I agree about a tad of castor oil w/Infusium 23, which already has a healthy dose of it in it. I tried it several times on dry hair and it was not good /images/graemlins/mad.gif

I am guilty I know (big sigh) but at least this addiction has sort of taken my focus off of shoes...and I can get a whole lot of hair products for the price of one pair of shoes.. /images/graemlins/lick.gif

Sorry I did not notice it in the UK.

Great Minds think alike Sis. I love this scriputre because it makes me feel good about taking care of my hair.

Even the Lord wants me to take care of my hair! /images/graemlins/king.gif /images/graemlins/clap.gif /images/graemlins/clap.gif /images/graemlins/angel.gif
