Caruso Steam rollers

Hi Ladies,

I've been toying of the idea of trying the Caruso steam rollers. Problem is, I'm not sure where to get them. None of the local beauty supply stores (Chicago) I frequent carry them. For those w/ knowledge or experience w/this product, this is good for my hair right? I'm trying my darnest to not resuce my blowdryer and curling iron from their banishment in the linen closet.

Also, if anyone watches UPN Girlfriends.. I want to duplicate the look (or something like it) of the woman that was playing the manipulative girlfriend of William. Do you think this look can be acheived w/ this product.

She has appeared on the last two episodes.

I don't watch Girlfriends. The previews look cute, but I can't miss WWE Monday Night RAW! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not good at setting my hair. So my experience wouldn't help you at all. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif Carolyn Gray (The Black Woman's Guide to Beautiful, Healthier Hair in 6 Weeks ) swears by this method. And a friend of mine with slightly below shoulder length hair uses one and ends up with a style that looks like a wet roller set. Smooth on top and fluffy on the ends. She doesn't work out or anything and the style lasts for 3 or 4 days. It's a little tight looking the first day, but it loosens each day. She pin curls it at night.
I got my 14 roller Caruso Hairsetter from Big Lots for under $20. I ordered some extra rollers online. I've seen the hairsetter at folica.com, metrobeauty.com and ulta.com

they dont use dry heat to set your hair but STEAM! this infuses much needed moisture into your hair and is healthy. the steam set also causes curls to last for days on end /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like that girl's hair as well, but I wish William would dump her FOR GOOD. Anyway that's OT. As for the rollers I saw them on sale at Hechts for $35, but I wanted to go somewhere that had them cheaper. I think I went to SEARS once and they had them for a better price.

Ooooh! Kewl! Must get Caruso steam rollers now...... /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hi Honey,
I started using the steam rollers about 9 yrs ago (upon hearing about them). They are really easy & they're simply perfect for a fast, healthy curl & go style. I need to purchase another one because my "steamer" bit the dust about 3 mths ago & the foam is all "jacked up" on my rollers from overuse (this is the 3rd one that has died on me!)
I sometimes watch Girlfriends...I can't remember what William's girlfriend look like though /images/graemlins/confused.gif.

What is the secret to setting with the caruso steam rollers. I have the steamer, tons of rollers and yet I cannot seem to create long lasting curls that last throughout the day let alone 2-3 days later. Also I notice that the rollers seem to create a very poofy style for me. I try to work with them every week, yet I am not getting the results of all of you ladies that swear by them. Please tell me the secret of using them. I don't want to give up on them.

I just purchased the Caruso steamer this year. Try Big Lots-much cheaper, but you can purchase it at Sally's for $30! My mom just gave me her old one that uses salt so LOL I have a good 60 rollers!!! SMILE! I use it for the doobie look and spiral curl look. I think you should be able to achieve that look of homegirl on Girlfriends very easily (avid watcher /images/graemlins/wink.gif)
with the Caruso steam rollers. My hair is thick so my curls can last anywhere between 1-2 days. I have gotten lazy and don't roll my hair at night (use the Caruso rollers everyday for curls). I have just started using dry setting lotion w/ the Caruso steamer and that helps hold the curl. I use end papers. For me it adds much needed moisture to my hair. Do a search on the board using the word Caruso to find out more information about it-they are a lot of old posts.
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks everybody. I think I definitely will try this out.
Sassygirl! You're into wrestling too? My boyfriend drives me crazy with all his wrestling programs. I can't call him on Monday nights, Thurs. nights and sometimes on Sunday when he has a pay-per-view. Although, he will call me on the commercials. What's a girl to do?

I didn't see the Caruso steam rollers, but I ran into the Remington hot rollers. They don't use steam, but they heat up in only SECONDS even when it is on low. And they best part is that it gave me such a purdy curl! I could only practice on one piece of hair because I still have the curls in that my stylist did on Saturday! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

But, I'm soooo glad I found them!

Join him and watch! I know it's corny, but I like it. It's like a little soap opera! I watched off and on in my younger days. But three years ago my cable was acting funky and the only channel that came in clear was showing RAW. Hunter had drugged Steph and tricked her into marrying him. I've been hooked ever since! I'm the only person in my family that watches and they all think I'm nuts. I have some cousins that used to watch, but they are all, umm... 'guests of the state' now. The last thing they want to talk about is wrestling. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
My dad says I need to go ahead and move into a trailer, tie some mangy hound dogs to it and sit out front in a raggedy lawn chair drinking Shlitz and eating mayonnaise sandwiches. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
Come back, Stone Cold! (He might be reading this... /images/graemlins/tongue.gif )

Wooo!

I love me some Smackdown! Wooo! My mother haes the BIGGEST crush on Kurt Angle and so do I. /images/graemlins/blush.gif I also really like Edgehead. Hmmmm......

Heh Heh. Too funny. My honey says the same thing about it being a soap opera. I know a little about the different (far-fetched) storylines. I think once when I was over his house, he pulled into the room to show me one of the wrestlers beating up some old lady. That was mean.. but funny as hell!

Yes. Kurt Angle and Edge use the Caruso Molecular Hairsetter. (Just trying to stay on topic /images/graemlins/grin.gif )

I have a "Clapper" on my living room lamp. Whenever wrestling is on the light go off and on because I make so much noise!
I like Kurt and RVD because they have badunkadunks. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I could stare at them forever. But Shawn Michaels is my all time fave. I also like watching Bob Holly, the Dudleys (especially Spike!), Chris Benoit and REY REY! That boys is something else! I like that new guy Randy Orton Jr., too.
I get unnaturally happy whenever Stephanie or Paul Heyman get beat up. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmmmm....badunkadunks....... /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Kurt Angle is bootylicious. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

OKAY, back on topic now. I really like my hot roller set. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You are cracking me up!! Don't forget the baseball cap, pickup truck, and the shotgun to complete the picture!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

O.k. I can admit I sometimes mimic RVD's little um "saying" (I don't know what u call it. I saw him on some program and he was doing his little "R-V-D" when he kinda like pointing to himself while spelling his name.

I still LOVE the Rock though. Have a Good Weekend Ladies!!!

Re: Caruso Steam rollers/ Part II

Okay Ladies,

I got the Caruso steam rollers for X-mas. Any tips on usage and stlying? I just kinda of skimmed the instruction booklet. It never dawned on me until last night that I'm not entirely sure if I use them on dry or wet hair. My whole purpose in getting them is for alternative healthy stlying solutions.

Re: Caruso Steam rollers/ Part II

My hair has so much bounce when I use the Caruso Steam Rollers. When you use them, use END PAPERS. In addition, I would recommend that you put something on your ends to absorb the moisure. I use Nick Chavez's Anti Frizz serum but you can use shea butter, hair grease or whatever. I have to do this because I have 4b coarse hair. If your hair can withstand moisture, you may not have to use anything on your ends other than end papers.

Re: Caruso Steam rollers/ Part II

Does anyone know where I can get these in Canada? I would prefer not to have to order it from the US. I will then have to deal with the exchange rate, pay for custom and shipping charges.

Thanks

Re: Caruso Steam rollers/ Part II

honey01, some people are able to dry their hair straight enough using the ponytail method then use these rollers. so far, i've been unsuccessful with that. so what i do is blow dry and flat iron... yep, bad habits rear their ugly head... /images/graemlins/shocked.gif then i use 5 or 6 of the largest rollers. i leave them on the steamer for no more than 10 seconds, usually about 7 seconds. after i put them in, i leave on while i finish getting dressed (about 15-20 minutes). here is the end result:

the curls aren't tight, but i prefer loose anyway. they last all day.

Adrienne,

As always your hair is looking so good!! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've seen those rollers before in the store and thought about getting them, but I passed. I might look into it now since I plan on going ot Hecht's tomorrow. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

<font color="blue"> Hi Julia! You can get the Caruso Steam rollers at any Trade Secret.

I have the old school Caruso Rollers, and they worked well for me. The newer set looks so much better than my big pink set with the pink rollers, but I must say after 9 years my set still steams.

I haven't gotten my set from my moms' house because I can't travel with it on the plane. But when I visit again, I'm taking the rollers with me!

Who has the old old old set besides me?
