I would like to start using them but have no idea how they work. Are they direct heat ? how much do they cost ? where to buy them ? and for those who are using them what is your review ? I cannot sleep with rollers and I think it might be a good alternative. Please advice.
I SO regret throwing mine away...I was in the process of moving and threw away a lot of stuff just bc I didnt feel like taking too much with me. I had a whole bag of replacement rollers too that I had gotten at a yard sale brand new! They worked great in TN, but here in FL I think with the moisture they put in the hair + the humidity wasnt a good combo(Frizz city)...but maybe I should have experimented with leaving them on different amounts of time and different products...I might buy them again. They arent direct heat and arent damaging to the hair. But like I said the results depended on the climate for me! I heard they are now being marketed as Vidal Sassoon. You could try ebay too...
They work really well. The only problem is the foam dries out my hair. I heard that you should wrap the rollers with those roller papers, so they will not touch your hair. However, I do not know well they work using that technique since I have never tried it. I got mine at Sally's.
They work great, try leaving the roller on the steam for no more then 5-8 seconds for medium and 9-11 seconds for the large.
If the foam seems to dry your hair out take an old silk scraf cut it up and wrap a thin piece of it on each roller. The steam will still penatrate your hair although you may have to leave the rollers on the steam a few seconds longer.
Also you might want to try adding a capful of setting lotion along with the water in the steamer, it will make your curls hold nice all day.

The Vidal Sassoon and the Caruso are a little different. The Vidal Sassoon has an ion feature, and on/off switch the Caruso does not have. I have had Caruso curlers for years, and just got the VS this year.

Hopes this helps

I have my Carusos in my bangs right now. I think I'll try wrapping pieces of a scarf (satin should work too) around my rollers instead of papers and see how that works. And I haven't thought about adding setting lotion to the water.
My curls usually last all day anyway but maybe I'll see how that works. Great ideas Donda!
